With Silas, Tessa, and Amara dead, the other side being saved, and Bonnie being brought back to life, everything's feeling pretty dandy.Caroline mentioned Katherine's stay at Chateau de Whitmore and how her daughter (shocking, right?) saved her from homelessness. Speaking of Whitmore, Doc is no longer supposed to be a problem after Caroline compelled him. Not sure how that happened but hey! I'm not complaining.
The only thing plaguing my mind is how my existence has to deal with whoever these travelers are. Considering I haven't met one yet, I plan to make this an issue I can finally ignore.
Life is bliss.
Except for the fact I can barely see in front of me with these stacked beer cases. Parking on a college campus is terrible. I'm walking over half a mile with these cases. My phone rests on top of the third case, on speaker so I won't have to force myself to use my hearing.
I let out a sigh when his voicemail greets me instead of his voice.
"Klaus," I start after the beep, "I'm hoping nothing's wrong since the last time we spoke New Orleans was possibly dying. You not answering isn't reassuring in any way. Please—hey! Move!" I interrupt myself as some douchebag nearly runs into me. "Jesus...anyway call me back when you can. Give me updates on everyone." I'm awkwardly silent for a moment because I can't reach my phone without dropping the beer.
"Shit," I curse and look around. I spot some blonde fellow not too far. "Hey! You!" He turns around and I recognize that depressed Aaron kid. "Come here!"
He, surprisingly, obliges and slowly walks to me. "Didn't I just see you?" He asks, shaking a poorly decorated flyer in his hand. I recognize it from the stack Elena had earlier.
"Other one," I dismiss. "Would you mind hanging up my phone for me?" I nod my head at the phone. He looks at it and raises his brows. I guess he wasn't expecting that.
"You're the mean one," he remembers.
"I prefer blunt. You gonna help or not?" He shrugs before reaching up. I didn't expect him to actually help, so I have to yell a quick, "Call me back! I love you!" just before he ends my voicemail.
"Thank you," I thank. I look him in the eye before adjusting my grip on the cases. It's not heavy with my handy dandy strength, but it's not well-balanced either.
"Do you...need help with that?" he questions with a frown. A case of beer is supposed to be heavy. I probably shouldn't have walked across campus like this.
"Would you?" I question. "Just the one would help."
He looks like he regrets asking but does it anyway. He puts my phone on top of my second case and lets out a grunt once the full weight of a case of beer lands in his arms.
"Big party?"
"My sister's best friend finally moved in," I explain as we walk to Elena's dorm. "You're invited, by the way. Hell, everyone is."
"Yeah, I ran into her a few minutes ago, actually."
"Does that mean you're gonna come?"
I see him side-eye me. "Yeah...your sister's convincing."
"I'm told it has to do with her kindness." I watch him grunt as he rearranges his hold on the case. "You can stack it on top again if you'd like."
"It's okay," he gives a strained smile. "We're almost there."
We walk awkwardly in silence for a few moments. I'm not exactly sure what to say. To be honest, I didn't think he'd actually help me as much as he is.
