5 Seconds of Vamps

Cara sat on her own in the corner of a busy Starbucks café. Her boyfriend Connor had promised to be there at 3. It was 3:30 and her coffee was cold. She picked at her muffin, her appetite for sweet things suddenly gone. She wondered what had happened to Connor.

At 3:45 she called her friends to pass some time. First she called Lia, an ambitious young blonde taken with her boyfriend, Niall Horan.

"Cara?"

"Hey lia. um, its me, im umm, in starbucks.."

"On your own?"

"Yeah."

"I thought you were meeting Con."

"He..um..he didn-"

"I get it. On my way."

At 3:50 Lia walked into Starbucks, her long blonde hair swaying behind her. She spotted Cara in the corner, next to the window. She ordered a latte and sat down.

"What the hell is wrong with him?"

Cara looked up from her phone.

"He's.. um.. I don't know!" she said, tearing up.

Lia dialled Connor's number.

"CONNOR FREAKING BALL, IF YOU DON'T -"

She was cut off by the sound of Connor crying.

"...Connor?"

"It's R-Rex" he said "He's not eating, He's g-gone pale and.."

Lia sighed. She hung up.

"It's Rex, apparently." She said.

Cara sighed with relief. She knew Con wouldn't have stood her up for no reason.

"Let's go to Freya's" she said. "Con can pick me up later."

Lia gave her a reassuring smile and they walked out of Starbucks. They were driving to Freya's house when Cara's phone rang.

"Connor!"

"Cara! Cara i'm so, so sorry... Rex is sick, I'm in the vet's."

"Oh Con... you and that lizard."

Connor laughed.

"Am I forgiven?"

Cara paused.

"....maaaaaybe" she said, giggling.

"See you later alligator" he said, laughing.

"In a while, Crocodile!" she replied

Lia shook her head.

"You two are so weird!"
