Chapter 3: The Test and Teams

I smiled as I walked towards the academy. Today was the final test and then I could be a ninja! I was so excited I almost didn't notice the angry emo following me to the school.  I ignored the angst presence next to me and continued to walk to school, it’s not like I’m on his squad.

I suddenly grew evermore cheerful thinking about seeing Orange and Pineapple. My mind flying with the idea of new friends I skipped the rest of the way to the school, earning curious looks from the grump walking to my left. When I entered the room I walked towards a sleeping pineapples desk. I poked his sleeping figure as soon as I got to the desk and he ignored me. I poked him again and his face moved sideways to reveal itself.  With his eyes closed he actually looked peaceful, unlike the bored look he always wore. His breathing was soft as he slept. How adorable.....wait, what? Adorable? I meant annoying! Yeah annoying! I thought to myself shaking my head. I was now bored again and sat next to him. I then repeatedly poked him counting to see how many it would take to wake him up.

"Excuse me..." I hear behind me. I turn around to see a chubby boy looking at me oddly. He had a big scarf around his head and package of chips he was munching on. I smiled sweetly,

"Hello my name is Kotone! Do you know how to wake pineapple up I wanted to say hi to him and apologize for my sister’s antics yesterday.” I told him.

I suddenly heard the thundering of two rhino’s in the hallway and turned to the door to see the blonde and pinkette from yesterday. I sweat dropped at their idiocy before turning to the chip guy.

"Hey Chips, how do you wake Pineapple up?" I asked truly curious.

Chips only looked at me curiously, “Chips? Pineapple?" he asked.

I smiled back, "Yeah I don't know your name and Pineapple hasn't told me his yet...come to think of it neither has Orange." I turned around and poked Pineapple like I never have poked before. I hear him groan and he looked up at me, a frown on his face. I fought the urge to be stupid and make him smile and asked “What is your name? Oranges name? And who is the blonde, and pink haired girls and who is the dark lord of doom in the corner?” I asked. He looked at me sleepily and I had to squash the urge to blush.

He sighed before sitting up. “The girl with the blonde hair is Ino, the other is Sakura, the 'Dark lord of doom' is Sauske, Orange is Naruto and I'm Shikamaru.” he replied lazily. I nodded and pointed to Chips, 

“What about Chips? What’s his name?” I ask.

“That is Choji.” He replied. I smiled at Choji and placed my head on the desk and eventually fell asleep from lack of entertainment.

“one...KOTONE!!!!!!!!!” I heard someone shout. I immediately jumped up and hit the person shouting at me without realizing it. I looked to the floor to see Iruka-sensei on the floor, dazed from my punch to his face. I gasped and covered my mouth with both of my hands in shock. “Go to the next room and take your test please.” Iruka wheezed. I nodded slowly and walked into the next room to see a man with white hair. I felt a sinister aura forcing itself upon me. ‘What is this feeling?’ I wondered before shaking my head.

“I have to make clones to pass right?” I asked.

He just smiled at me and said, “Yes, it should be simple for you.” I glared at him and made three clones easily. While the other two were beating him up I walked over to the table and picked up a headband and tied it around my neck. I then let the clones disappear and ran out of the room and into a tree. I preferred sleeping in trees to the bed that Suzuma and Kei gave me.. I looked down to see Naruto looking dejected on the swings and felt bad. I looked around, not seeing any of the parents coming towards Naruto. This poor kid had nobody from the start, everybody he turned to glared at him with hate that was hard to miss. I thought.

I dropped down from the tree and hugged him. I said nothing, why would I? I barely knew him but I wasn't heartless, I knew that he was an outcast, I knew he needed comfort and I gave it. He laid stiffly in my arms before relaxing and hugging me back. I smiled softly until I felt a glare on my back.

"You see him? Hugging that girl as if he has a heart." A lady said glaring at Naruto.

"I heard she was born in the wild and was adopted by the Tomoke family. They say she was the one who killed her parents." I heard her friend say. I turned around in rage. I walked up to the two lady's with fury in every pronounced step.

The sensed my malcontent and backed away slowly. "How dare you..." I growled. I took another step closer before stopping, knowing I would regret hitting one of them or cutting one with a kunai, seeing their blood would have a great satis.... I shook my head to get rid of the thought. "My parents were killed by rogues. How dare you say they were killed by my hand?" I yelled at them. I turned toward the one who spoke first.

"And you...” I spat, "How can you talk about an innocent child like that? What has he done to you? Has he murdered your family? Did he cheat money off of you? Did he steal from you?!" I yelled, taking a slow menacing step forward. They backed away even further. I felt a hand on my arm but kept talking. "No! He is an innocent child that you blame for nothing! He isn't the cause of your hate! Stop treating him like he is!" I wanted to continue but something stopped me. I felt something wet on my cheeks and felt them, tears...

"Kotone..." I heard behind me, I turned around slowly to see Shikamaru. "That's enough Naruto isn't here, you don't need to yell at them either. They are only human they know no better." He says softly. I turn to him and look him in the eyes.

"They should know better than to treat an innocent child like that." I reply softly. I take my arm out of his hold and flit to the park. I sit in a nearby tree and think. Does everyone really think I murdered my own parents? I asked myself. Yes child they do...A beautiful but cold voice says in my mind spreading chills up my spine.

Who are you!? I yelled in my mind. My name is Kuro child no need to be loud. I could feel Kuro's raw anger in my mind. I gasped under the force of it. Suddenly I was in a room of light there was a gigantic black panther in front of me. The panther itself looked as if it was made of shadow the only detail visible was a pair of red eyes with flecks of gold in them. The panther smiled, I gasped a slit of pearly white teeth could now be seen from the shadows of its lips, very sharp teeth. 

I backed up in horror, what are you? I asked. The panther's eyes softened, I am Kuro, your animal spirit, friend, and guide. I smiled at the friend part. Why did you show up now? I have never seen you before. I asked. The panther looked sad at the topic. I am your guardian but you are my pride leader. I have to follow your commands. You would have seen me once if it weren't for the people who attacked you. Your parents weren't sick at all that day, they knew I would appear within you and wanted to use me against you village. They had hired mercenaries to attack you to find out if you were ready. I of course, wanted to protect you so I took over your mind by force and attacked the men while you were unaware. When I heard your parents say that you were ready and that they would head to the village and force you to attack the village I couldn't let them. I attacked them and killed them because I knew that if you wouldn't cooperate they would kill you.

I listened to the story in ever growing horror. My parents wanted to use me as a weapon against a village. They had never loved me, only my power. I crumpled to the floor and cried. I felt a warmth surround me and I leaned into it. Later I opened my eyes and saw that I was back in the tree with tear stains on my face and the source of warmth was......Sasuke!?!?!?!
