Chapter 2: An Enemy

It was a normal day in Frank's Village, a dull and dreary day as

always, and everything was going fine, so far as it can in a post-

apocalyptic world until Anthony busted into Frank's office excitedly.

"Frank! We have a message from a new village!"

"Who is it from, Anthony?" asked Frank with some confusion.

"It is from Jack's Village sir."

"Jack's village, this is the first I have ever heard of them, why

is that?"

"Well, they have never contacted us or our allies before, but they

assert that they want to meet with us to discuss a border dispute. A

hunter from our village has been caught hunting in what Jack considers

to be his land, and they want to set in stone the border so that we

all know what is and is not their land."

"Okay Anthony, tell them we will gladly meet with them to

settle this matter." Frank answered.

"Yes, sir, and one of our hunters have found a source of fresh

water that has yet to be contaminated." Anthony exclaimed with the

excitement of a child on Christmas day.

"That's great news, thank you Anthony." Frank replied.

"You're welcome, and have a good day Frank."

"You too Anthony." As Frank expressed this, Anthony left to go

deliver the message to Jack. After Anthony has left, Frank decided to

take a short walk to clear his mind. While Frank was on his walk, he

looked at the nature around him with a closer eye than normal. This

observation filled him with hope. "If the plants can grow in this

wasteland, then maybe there is hope for humanity to fix their

mistakes" with his mind clear and hope restored, Frank returned to his

hut to get back to his work. A few hours later, Anthony returned once

again excited.

"Welcome back Anthony. Did you have a safe trip?" Frank inquired

instinctively.

"Yes, sir and Jack said he would like to have a meeting today, as

they have fast enough means of transportation to get here." Anthony

exclaimed.

"Okay then Anthony; let them know we can meet today at four

o'clock p.m."

"I can do that."

"Thank you."

"You're welcome." Anthony replied with a tone of satisfaction.

"Also, Anthony, if you get back before two o'clock p.m. I will be

attending an important meeting with Richard to discuss our

current plan to deal with any unknown invaders and any possible

improvements that may be made if need be."
