Chapter 19: Sneezing and coughing

The teacher has left the class to continue our textbook work. He said he'll be back soon, but it's almost been half an hour, and the class has already erupted into chatters and small conversations.

As for me, my head is down and I'm continuing with my book work. I know what kind of teacher that we have now. He's a pretty laid-back teacher, but I know that he'll expect us to do this work at home, which is why I'll do it now.

I look beside me, just as Daehyun slams his work book and begins to put away his pencil case.

"Done already?", I ask with a sarcastic tone.

He nods.

"You're actually finished?', I ask, this time with a more shocked expression.

Daehyun smiles. "Well, yeah. Did you expect me to talk through the rest of this period like the moron behind us?", he says as he nods his head in the direction of the back of the class.

I turn around and see Jungkook laughing and chattering away with his friends.

I look back at Daehyun. I shrug and look back at my text book. "Well, that's what the rest of the class are doing. Including Jungkook"

"So that's the moron's name", Daehyun nods slowly.

I sigh. "Could you not call him that?"

"Sorry", he replies. "Didn't know you guys were close"

I scoff, "We aren't"

"Then why are you defending him? He seems like a total jerk"

Looking back at Daehyun, I tilt my head to the right and to the left. "Not totally. But most of the time, yes", I say, also glancing at Jungkook to check if he's listening.

Daehyun chuckles. "Thought so", he says.

Just as he finishes his opinion on Jungkook, I feel someone ruffling my hair. I scowl at Jungkook as he sits on the middle spot of the table, between Daehyun's and my seat.

"What do you want now?", I ask as I straighten my hair down and push his hand away.

"Just wanted to ask if you finished our geography assessment yet", Jungkook tells me with a shrug.

"Are you serious?", I scoff. "Well, if you want to know, I finished drawing the outline of the continents on the world map, and I-"

Jungkook coughs and interrupts me. "Boring"

"You can't judge", I say as I cross my arms.

He coughs again. "Why not? You can't tell me what to do. I thought you knew that everyone has rights, stupid"

"Don't call her 'stupid'"

We both turn our heads to Daehyun, which is when I finally realise that he's been listening to us argue as he sits next to me, and glares at Jungkook's swinging legs.

"Why not? You can't tell me what to do either", Jungkook raises his eyebrow at Daehyun.

"Haven't you ever heard of being a gentleman towards ladies?", Daehyun asks as he raises his eyebrow back at Jungkook.

I chuckle, "If he has, he's never done it before"

Jungkook shoves me on the arm and points at me. "I gave you my jacket when it was raining. I think that this is the third time that I have to remind you to be grateful"

"Well thank you for giving me your jacket. But now you're sick-"

"I am not!", he snaps. His hypocrisy reveals itself when he starts coughing again, and Daehyun starts laughing at him.
