Chapter 3 - The Road Taken
After doing absolutely nothing during third period (except for vandalism to someone's pride and joy), lunch time finally arrives and me and Sam make our way back to the gym to meet up with Shelley.
While students are milling in the hallways and making their way to the cafeteria we stop at the gym doors and wait for Shelley to come for us. Sheesh, whats taking her so long, I think after we have been standing around for ages.
Sam obviously got a little bored, so she stationed herself on the other side of the hallway opposite me and just leant up against the lockers and stood there.
What is she up to?
I cross my arms over my chest and watch her curiously.
Not long after, Tara and her friends, who look like they worship the ground she walks on, strut past Sam. At the perfect moment, Sam sticks her foot out, and Tara goes sprawling across the hallway floor.
I stifle a laugh as Tara's face goes an unattractive red, while her followers gasp and help her to her feet.
"What is your problem!?!" Tara screams at Sam.
"Can't you tell?" Sam questions back.
Tara looks livid and looks like she wants to strangle Sam, so I push off the wall and rush over to her aid. Im sure Sam can handle herself, but I want to back her up, just in case.
Tara glares at me when she sees me stand next to Sam and we both stand tall in front of her, challenging her to take us on. Ok, I may have taken a few too many crazy pills this morning.
"She asked you a question" I interrupt Tara's glaring.
"What is your problem!?!" Tara screams again at Sam. Seriously, this girl needs to take it down an octave.
"You are my problem" Sam seethes.
Tara turns her nose up at Sam, and smirks "I know what this is about"
Tara looks at her friends and they giggle before Tara smirks at us again and says "Seth"
This seems to bring Sam up short. I wonder who Seth is? Sam narrows her eyes at Tara, while Tara's smirk gets bigger and bigger.
I step in front of Sam and up to Tara, with our noses practically touching as I growl "Leave"
With a flick of her hair, Tara spins around saying to her clones "We're leaving"
"Run along" both me and Sam say at the same time. I turn and smile at Sam, and she returns the smile. Yup, we are definitely soul mates.
Shelley decides to join us moments later, and she frowns slightly and then says to us "What have you two been up to?"
Sam gasps and fakes hurt as she places a hand over her heart saying "Nothing" she smiles at me and then adds to Shelley "So suspicious"
We all laugh and Shelley replies "You both fail to remember, that I know Sam. Ive also seen Jade in action"
Sam links her arms with mine and Shelleys and says to Shelley "Stop being a fuss-pot. Lets go eat"
We start walking towards the lunchroom when an angry, booming male voice shouts "Samantha!" as it echoes off the walls of the now empty hallway.
We turn to see Josh Larkins storming towards us with pure anger and rage blazing in his eyes, trailed by one of his friends.
"Why Joshua, to what do I owe this pleasure?" Sam sweetly asks as she smiles innocently at him.
