Chapter 4 - The Road Taken
When the bell rings for the end of school, I make my way out of class with Seth in tow. I dodge Josh's foot that would have sent me face first onto the ground, but Seth isn't quick enough to sidestep the fist that Josh connects with his arm. "Dude!" Josh shouts at Seth, while Seth rubs his arm.
"What are you doing with her?" Josh shouts as he points at me, like Im a piece of filth. Stupid dufus doesnt realise he is drawing attention from other students, and I will use that to my advantage.
"Seth" I say as I pat him on the arm "It looks like your girlfriend is jealous. I will give you two time to talk it over."
"We're not!" Josh shouts and it takes all my strength not to laugh in his face as he goes bright red with embarrassment as a few from the crow start snickering. He makes it too easy!
"Peace out" I reply as I show them the peace sign, while walking away.
I wonder where Sam is? She was going to pick me up. I guess she decided to bail. I could, if I wanted to, but I really don't mind. I smile to myself thinking, I can learn a few things from that girl - that will definitely get my parents worked up.
As I make my way to detention, my mood was getting lighter and lighter.
Why? Well, that means that I don't have to go home for another hour. Although, I will probably be bored like crazy, I would rather detention than being at home with my family.
I walk into detention ignoring everyone (especially Tara that got me into detention), and make my way to a seat at the back. I was going to sit next to Sam, who has been given detention for the rest of her school life. But she isnt here, so I sit on my own. I wonder what she is doing.
Mr Reynolds interrupts my thoughts as he sits on the edge of my desk. Doesnt he know about the 'personal space' rules? I slide my chair back away from the desk a little to maintain the correct 'personal space' zoning.
"You do understand that crying rape is very serious?" he questions me.
Sheesh, yes! I understand it is serious. But, it was the first thing I could think of.
"I got the officially story as well" he informs me after I don't respond.
"Did the little girl nark me off?" I say through my teeth.
Mr Reynolds shakes his head in what is best described as disappointment. What is his problem? Why is he disappointed? He doesn't even know me!
"I also heard you incapacitated him earlier today" Mr Reynolds says. Its official, Josh is a narking little girl! What a wimp!
I then wittily reply "Sorry you weren't there. Would you like a demo?"
I notice him flinch and his hands twitch ready to protect himself.
I chuckle and slump down into my chair ready to endure the next hour of detention, as Mr Reynolds makes his way back to the front of class.
I stare at a spot on the wall opposite me for so long, that it starts to move and dance across the wall. Ok, Im losing my mind.
My phone starts to ring, and I check the caller ID and see it is my best friend Abby.
"Hey girl" I say as I answer my phone.
"Hey honey. How are you? How is your new school? Are there any cute guys?" she tries to carry on but I cut her off saying "Abz. Slow down."
Abby laughs, and I join in as she apologises. I smile and then ask her "So what question would you like me to answer first?
