Chapter 5 - The Road Taken

Gah! Who turned on the lights?

I swing my arm in the direction of my bedside lamp, attempting to switch it off when I end up sending the lamp crashing to the floor.

Ok... Why is it still light in here?

I groan as I roll over and painfully squint my eyes open.

Ah! Can someone turn off the sun? Its bright light is so damn annoying right now...

"Grrr!" I moan as I reach for my cellphone. Unfortunately, that goes tumbling down to join my bedside lamp on the floor.

Dammit! Now I have to get up.

I slowly sit up, and stretch while considering my options. Should I go to school today? What other options are there?

I could stay home... Ha! Hell to the No... Looks like school it is.

I grab my cellphone and put it back together while I walk to my closet to pick out some clothes for today.

As I put my clothes I have picked out on the bed, I switch my phone on. Leaving it to do its thing, I jump into a nice hot shower that soon wakes me up.

Wrapping a towel around my body I walk back into my room to check my phone. I sit down on the bed next to my clothes and check my phone to find I have a tonne of voice messages, and texts from Travis and a few from Abby.

Without bothering to go through the messages, I quickly dial his number. Its obviously something important, if he called me so many times.

"Hello?" a sleepy voice answers after a couple of rings.

Im so relieved to hear his voice and I whisper "Baby. Sorry to wake you"

The sound of my voice seems to strip him of his sleepiness and he demands "Where were you last night? You had me worried sick. I couldn't get a hold of you. Everyone was panicking..."

I cut him off saying "Hold up! What are you talking about?"

"No one knew where you were last night" Travis says.

Realisation then hits me, as I growl "They rang you didnt they?"

Thats who my mother was screaming at last night! Im going to have a stern word with that woman!

Im answered by silence, and thats all I need to know.

"They did, didnt they?" I demand of him.

"They were only worried about you. I was worried about you too" Travis pleads.

"Sheesh. Its not like I did anything stupid" I say in an exasperated tone and then quietly mumble "Well, thats not entirely true"

"What does that mean?" Travis ask.

I sigh and mumble "I was on the phone to Abby for hours last night until my phone's battery died."

"Uh-huh" Travis says encouraging me to continue.

"Anyway, I was driving around at the time, and kind of got a little lost" I say as my cheeks heat up from embarrassment.

I can just picture Travis' gorgeous face brightening with his breathtaking smile while he chuckles.

"Then I had to get myself un-lost" I lamely conclude.

Travis' chuckles quickly subside as he says "Im relieved that you are ok. Are you..."

I don't hear the rest of his question, when one of my dufus brothers starts banging on my bedroom door shouting "Hurry up. Your going to be late for school"
