Chapter 18

There was knocking at the door. Maya started stirring in her sleep realising that It was probably just Farkle.

"Maya are you awake, I don't want to walk in one what I did the other day"

"Farkle just come in here I promise I'm dressed, Josh is asleep anyway"

He made his way in to talk to his best friend. Farkle was so happy for Maya. After everything that happened with Lucas it was good to finally see her smile again. Not only that but Josh had treated her better than Lucas ever did.

"Do you think maybe we could talk in another room"

"Of course Farkle let me just get out of his grip and I will be right out"

Maya made her way to the kitchen and sat across from Farkle.

"So I'm going home tomorrow and I thought we should talk about some things"

"Okay, Farkle what in the world could you need to talk to me about"

He sat there for a few minutes not knowing where to start. He was worried about her. The insecurities she had now because of Lucas he wanted nothing more than for her to move forward but he was worried Lucas was going to ruin the thing she had with josh. They sat there for the next hour talking about things. He needed to leave knowing that everything was okay and he wasn't going to be comfortable with leaving until he knew that.

After having the conversation that they did Farkle was happy to leave. He was spending thanksgiving with his family and knew that Maya and Josh had to get to Philly to spend the holidays with their family. Josh walked out sleepily and said good bye to Farkle while Maya walked him to the door.

"Remember what I said Maya, be happy. He really likes you. Don't let anything get in the way"

"I will Farkle. I will see you next time"

Saying goodbye was hard. He was her best friend and she knew that he was one of the only people she trusted to actually look out for her.

The next day they set off to go to Philly. Maya was beyond nervous, they were going to tell their families but if they waited too long she was sure they would figure it out themselves. The whole time josh was driving he had one hand on the steering wheel and the other on Maya's thigh. He was trying to calm her down, he knew how anxious she was about everyone finding out.

"I don't know why your so nervous Maya, my parents love you. They always have"

"I wasn't your girlfriend then though, I don't want them to look me differently"

"They won't now we are almost there so let's just pull over for a minute"

Josh turned the car off and leaned over to the passenger side. Maya's eyebrow raised as if she was questioning what her boyfriend was going to do next.  He smirked and began to make out with Maya. These was going to be their last moments together as a couple before they finally announced to everyone they were together.

"Alright now that's out of the way let's go see our family"

Her heart melted when he said our family, like she had always belonged with them. When they pulled up in front of Josh's parents house though that wide grin and happy feeling slowly faded away when she saw the car in the front yard.

"Maya what's wrong you have gone really pale"

"Babe that's his car, Riley and Lucas are here"
