Take Me There - Chapter Two

Niall’s dad gets a new job in the south. It’ll be a big change from living in the nonstop pace of St. Louis to living on a ranch out in the middle of nowhere in southern Texas. But Niall soon finds out that the south isn’t all that bad. Especially when the boy next door is a charming and rugged cowboy.

Beta/N: I don’t exactly know how  Mitchell does the formatting for this, so I’m kind of making things up as I go along… I hope everyone likes this chapter! -India

Chapter Two:

  Niall sighed and put the box he was carrying on top of another. There was a growing stack of boxes in Niall’s room. He really had too much crap for a 17 year old. He pulled out a box cutter and ripped open the first box, inside were some of this clothes.  He tossed the box to the side and opened another, finding only posters and pictures. He grabbed the picture lying on the top; it was of him and his mother.

                “NIALL! Can you  get the door? I think someone’s there!” Maura shouted from some other room.

                Niall set the picture back down before racing down the stairs, taking two steps at a time. He raced to the front door and swung it open. A woman stood before him, holding a baked dish in her hand. She smiled sweetly and someone stepped out from behind her.

                “I told her you guys were busy, but she wouldn’t listen.” Liam tried to explain.

                “You wanted to come over as much as I did Liam!” The woman scolded the boy for throwing her under the bus. Liam blushed and ducked his head.

                “It’s fine. Really, it is. Let me get my Mom.”  Niall let them in before walking back up the stairs.

                “Mom… Liam’s mom is here with a pie, I think?” Niall informed his mother, who stopped what she was doing and followed her son down the stairs.

                “Hello, I’m Maura. Niall’s Mom.” Maura stuck out her hand to shake the other woman’s.

                “I’m Karen, and this here is Liam.” She gestured to the tall boy next to her.

                “Yes. We’ve met Liam before. He showed us the way to our house. We were completely lost.” Maura laughed.

                “Oh! Liam here could show Niall around town today. He’s already done all of his chores on the ranch. It’d be good to know where everything is.” Karen glanced at her son. She could tell he liked this plan.

                “That sounds wonderful! Niall you really should learn where everything is. Then you can tell me so I don’t get lost.” Maura winked at her son. She knew he had a little crush on the boy.

                “I’d love to but, I was planning to unpack a bit today.” Niall looked down at his feet.

                “Oh! Liam can lift a lot. He’d love to help you unpack.” Karen offered up her son again.

                “Well. Only if he wants to, and has nothing else to do.” Niall looked up at Liam and smiled shyly.

                “Sure. I’d love to help y’all unpack everythin’!” Liam said in a thick southern accent that made Niall’s knees weak.

                “Well, I better be going. Liam behave… and introduce Niall to your friends. I bet they’d love him!” Karen told Liam as she walked out the door.
