Take Me There - Chapter Five

Niall’s dad gets a new job in the south. It’ll be a big change from living in the nonstop pace of St. Louis to living on a ranch out in the middle of nowhere in southern Texas. But Niall soon finds out that the south isn’t all that bad. Especially when the boy next door is a charming and rugged cowboy.

Chapter Five

            Liam yawned and raised his arms above his head to stretch. It was way too early to be getting up, definitely way too early to be getting a phone call though. Liam sighed and reached for his cell phone, the number unknown.  He lifted the cell phone up to his ear.

            “This is Liam.” He muttered into the receiver.

            “Good morning Liam Payne, It’s David.”

            “Oh, hey David! How’s the business been going?” Liam perked up.

            “Good, but we’re super busy and we were wondering if you wanted your job back for the summer, well actually it’d only be one time. But we could really use the extra help. You know the deal.”

            “Yeah. How many this time?” Liam sighed.

            “200 head.”

            “Okay. I guess I can do it. When do you need me?” Liam stood up and started walking around his room.

            “Tomorrow would be best. Can you do that, Liam?” David’s voice echoed through the phone.

            “Yeah. Two weeks, right?” Liam questioned.

            “Correct. See you tomorrow Liam.” The line went dead.

            Liam sighed. He really didn’t want to do it, but it was money. They needed it. The older boy started grabbing clothes from his closet. He wouldn’t mind going usually, but now he had something to stay home for. Niall and Liam had just started, well, you really couldn’t call it dating, they hadn’t gone out yet.

            He would be disappointed that Liam would be leaving for two weeks. He’d just have to live though. Harry, Louis, and Zayn would keep him company for the most part. Once Liam thought about that though, he regretted the decision. No one would be protecting him. Niall’s truck came back to mind and what happened with that whole incident.

            Liam sighed. Well, there really was only really one solution to his problem. Liam grabbed his car keys and walked out of his room.

            “Wait… So you want me to go on a trip with you for two weeks in the middle of nowhere?” Niall repeated.

            “Yeah. I thought you’d enjoy spending two weeks with me.” Liam looked down at his feet, “Sorry. I should have known you wouldn’t have wanted to go.”

            “No! I’d love to go. I just don’t know what to take. And I really don’t understand what we’re doing.” Niall pushed the covers down and climbed out of his warm bed.

            “Oh.” Liam covered his eyes.

            “Don’t be a baby, Liam. You’ll probably see a lot more on this trip of ours.” Niall joked. He walked over to his closet and pulled out a pair of jeans and slipped them on.

            “So you need help packing?” Liam smiled.

            “Yeah. How much stuff do I need to take?” Niall asked as he searched his closet.
