Niall’s dad gets a new job in the south. It’ll be a big change from living in the nonstop pace of St. Louis to living on a ranch out in the middle of nowhere in southern Texas. A/N: -Covers face- I think it’s horrid! But I’m posting it!
Chapter Four
Niall walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge, scanning its contents. He sighed and let the door close. He reached over to the cabinet, glanced inside, it was also empty. There was nothing to eat in the house; his mother always had food around. Niall was known for being hungry all the time. Maura was prepared, today was a first.
The blonde boy spotted a post-it note on the counter; he picked it up and started walking back to his room while reading it. Hey Honey, I’ve gone to the store. I don’t know when I will be back. Sorry! Try to find something to eat if you can! Too bad there wasn’t any food. He threw the note in the trash and grabbed his car keys. Like he would just sit here and wait for her to get back? No. He was hungry.
Niall lightly tapped the brake, slowing the car down a little bit. He had finally had entered the city limits, and he’d only went the wrong way three times. He smiled as he spotted a small breakfast diner. It looked very homey. The front was lit up with a huge neon sign, which was flashing obnoxious bright colors. Niall pulled into one of the few empty parking spots.
The blonde walked in the large building, and stood near the podium where menus were stacked. A familiar faced popped into view, dressed up in a black apron and green shirt. Zayn smiled at the blonde boy and asked him if he was by himself, which Niall had nodded in response.
“Well we can’t have that can we?” Zayn picked up a menu and led his friend towards a booth in the back.
“Guys. I brought you something!” Zayn said in a sing-song voice, still hiding Niall behind him.
“Free breakfast?” Harry asked happily.
“No. I told you guys. I can’t do that,” The tan boy sighed, “I actually brought you something Liam would like.”
“What are you talking about Zayn?” Niall’s ears perked up at the familiar voice he hadn’t heard since the movie they went to last week.
“Hi.” The Missouri boy stepped out from behind Zayn and waved his hand at the three.
“Niall!” Louis cheered, pulling the blonde to sit next to him, but since there wasn’t any room he landed in Louis’ lap. Harry and Louis were already taking up the one side of the booth, and Liam sat across from them on the other side.
“Louis let go of him. You’re squishing him.” Zayn grabbed the boy’s hand and pulled him up then gently pushed him until he sat down on Liam’s lap. The older lad grunted in surprise. His eyes shot open when he realized his crush was sitting on his lap.
“Comfortable Niall?” Harry cocked an eyebrow at the two.
“Oh. OH!” Niall squeaked and quickly pushed himself off the other boy, who scooted farther into the booth to allow Niall a place to sit.
“As I told you guys before, I can’t give you free meals. So either order or get out.” Zayn pointed a finger at the three boys who Niall had just joined.
