A Goddess and a vessel
Unexpected battle
Robin was at the front of the formation as the shepherds where marching back to Ylisse after helping the country of Ferox fight off a massive army. The troops were tired and were looking forward to going home after the long war campaign. It had been nearly two months of battle and Robin almost lost a lot of friends. Thankfully the Feroxi Soldiers always managed to find a way to help in the nick of time. Chrom had walked up to join Robin at the front of the formation.
"It's about time we got home, isn't old friend?" Robin asked Chrome while looking over to him.
"You're damn right it is, I need to go see baby Lucina before she gets too old to want to spend time with her old man" Chrome said giving a soft chuckle. Robin chuckled as well.
"She'll grow up to be one hell of a warrior if you train her as well as you did with your future child, we would've lost the battle if not for Lucina and her army of future children" Robin said while grinning.
"Speaking of future children, when are you going to find yours? Surely you have someone you fancy" Chrom asked while elbowing his tactician with a teasing smile plastered on his face. Robin shoved him away playfully.
"Surely the exalt has more pressing matters than the relationship status of his tactician" Robin said while laughing.
"Well that is true but you still need too fin-" Chrom was cut off by a giant flash of light that was blinding.
When the light disappeared, all of the shepherds where at a giant island. The island seemed to have floating platforms and seemed to be a huge floating island itself.
"What happened?!? Where are we?" Chrom asked while he checked to make sure all of his friends we safe and accounted for.
"I dunno but we aren't safe here" Robin said as he was surveying the land for any danger. He found some as he stared down a small army, about the size of the shepherds, of odd looking fighters. There were small children, men with mustaches in red and green along with someone in full armor just to name a few.
"Prepare for battle!" Robin immediately yelled at the top of his lungs as he saw that the enemy was starting to rush forward, some fighters approaching with dangerous speed. One creature had already reached them with a rush of blue and had seemingly drop kicked young Ricken off the side of the battlefield.
"RICKEN NO!" Tharja had yelled as her beloved fell.
Robin's mind instantly entered battle mode as he was struck with grief as he lost his young friend.
"Everyone, be careful and watch your footing, their going to try to throw us off the edge of the island!" Robin had commanded as Tharja had caused a huge explosion under the blue creatures feet, effectively throwing it off the island with a massive amount of force. The shepherds started running forward with newfound energy and rage at their loss.
When the two small armies met, a huge battle had broken out.
Robin had gotten lost in the midst of it and was running around, cutting down the enemies he could and using arcfire to force enemies away and sometimes off the edge of the island. Even while Robin was fending off a blue swordsmen (who he swore was a splitting image of the hero king Marth) he could see that both sides were experiencing major losses of their soldiers. Robin dodged a flying arrow seemingly made of light and rushed to the aid of Frederick as he was having trouble fighting a knight in a green tunic with impressive swordsmanship. Robin threw one of his used up tomes on him using the rest of its magic to amplify its power, giving it the force of two canon balls to hit the knight from the side, sending him flying. Frederick gave the tactician a small smile and grateful nod which Robin returned before running to save another one of his companions. Panne was fighting some sort of humanoid fox as he was using some sort of portable canon, shooting beams of energy as if it were a more efficient tome. The Fox matched Panne in speed in her rabbit form, possibly even exceeding her, and his superior range of attacks was starting to wear her down. Robin rushed behind the fox as he was trying creating distance between him and Panne and used Nosferatu. Robin drained him of most of his energy before the fox broke away. Because he was now exhausted, Panne was able to give a powerful kick straight to the foxes face and send him across the island before flying into the clouds. Robin rushed to Panne's side before she could fall over from her wounds and used nosferatu on himself to share some of the stolen energy to somewhat heal and help her recover some energy before surveying the battle's effects.
Both fighters were down to about 4 fighters. The shepherds had Lucina, Chrom, Panne and himself left on the island. The enemy had a very buff man in a helmet and a scarf, a creature with huge amounts of energy around it's paws, a boy with wings and a woman with green hair and a staff.
"Shepherds, gather to me!" Robin commanded his friends as he helped his taguel comrade up.
"Chrom, you go after the man in the scarf. Lucina, distract Angel boy there. Panne I need you to fend off the creature with the glowing paws. I'm going to go after the woman with the staff, I believe she is the healer but she has been taking out a lot of our forces with her range and I can combat that. Now go!" Robin said in a firm voice to confirm his orders.
While they started to rush to their designated enemies, Robin sprinted towards his while charging his thoron tome. The woman must have known it was a range attack because she brought out the shields she had used to deflect the arrows that Virion had tried to shoot her with. Keeping his full sprint towards the woman, he had a plan. When he was close enough to look like he was gonna unleash Thoron, he closed the tome and slid under the shields and kicked at the woman's feet, effectively knocking her to the ground. Robin quickly got up and prepared to thrust his sword down into her breast but was hit by an arrow and was knocked back. He looked over to see that the Angel boy had evaded Lucina to protect the woman. Lucina quickly shoulder charged the winged boy though and gave a determined nod to Robin. The tactician returned his gaze to the green haired woman as she quickly got up and raised her staff, wings and a halo materializing on her as she shot what seemed to be blue balls of energy at him.
"She must be some sort of deity like Naga" Robin thought to himself. He rolled to the side and ran forward to dodge the projectiles. The woman ran forward as well with her small buckler raised to block an attack. Robin holstered his thoron tome, which was also his last tome, and held his Levin sword with two hands. Robin raised the sword and swung down as hard as he could when he was within range of the woman. The levin sword hit the buckler with shocking force but the woman was ready and braced herself. What she wasn't ready for was the electricity the came from the sword and brought her to her one knee as Robin out more force on his sword.
"What is your name strong tactician?" The green haired woman asked as she struggled to keep her buckler up.
"I am Robin of Ylisse and you?" Robin asked as he struggled to keep pushing down as he grew tired.
"I am Palutena, goddess of light and ruler of Angel land." Palutena said as she forced her buckler upward, throwing Robin off her.
Robin tried to regain his composure but was shoulder charged by someone. Someone strong. He stopped himself from skidding across the ground and stabbed his sword into the ground to try help himself up. The man in the helmet and scarf was helping Palutena up. He should've been occupied with..
Robin quickly looked around and saw that the rest of his friends had met their fates and were no longer on the island. There were still two enemies left, Palutena and the scarfed man.
"No..." Robin said, grief stricken. The scarfed man walked up to him and reeled back, preparing to punch Robin, his fists engulfed with flame and shaking with his power.
"I'm so sorry..." Robin said as he closed his eyes, the cursed brand on his eyes glowing a dark purple.
"FALCON PU-" As the scarfed mans fist met Robin's chest, there was a massive explosion of purple flames, sending the man backwards towards Palutena, who stood in shock at the dark and malicious energy Robin had.
"You have killed all my friends... I no longer have anything to fight for. Let me return the favor... tell me goddess of light, are you prepared to face the might of the fell dragon Grima?" Robin said furious.
The scarfed man got up before Palutena responded and jumped to Robin preparing another flaming punch.
"FALCON PUNCH!" THE MAN YELLED OUT. Robin raised his Levin sword with one hand and swung down at the man. In a huge clash of energy and raw power, Robin sent the scarfed man flying off the island while breaking the Levin sword in half. Robin looked at Palutena with harmful intent and threw the hilt of the sword at Palutena who tried to block it with her buckler. The small shield broke from the sheer force of the hilt thrown by Robin and the goddess was left with only her staff. Robin unsheathed his bronze sword and ran towards Palutena. The goddess attempted to shoot more energy projectiles at the tactician, but he simply brushed them off and took the damage without flinching. She raised her staffer and swung at Robin as he was in front her but he parried it with his sword and swung hard st her. She was able to block with her gauntlets but she lost her staff. She was also sent a good few feet away from Robin. Whatever energy he had was fueled by rage and grief for his lost friends.
Robin dropped his sword and took out the Thoron tome he had saved from earlier. Opening it and flipping through it's pages he stopped on the page used to execute the most powerful bolt of lighting, the time started to glow a dark purple as well. He was putting all of his energy into this attack, even if it destroyed his body and ended his life.
"THORON!!" Robin yelled in a distorted voice.
Palutena smiled as she raised her reflective shields. Unfortunately for her, the dark lighting did not reflect and simply cracked her shield but did not disappear and seemed to be getting stronger with each second. Her smile disappeared as she realised they would not hold and that she couldn't escape.
"Well played.." She said quietly as the lightning broke through the shields and hit her full force, sending her beyond the island and into the clouds.
Robin chuckled as he fell to his knees.
"I'm sorry everyone.. My strategy wasn't good enough.." Robin said as he fell to the ground, feeling his life slip away.~COMING SOON~
