Your Pov

You see it in every story. The 'villain' is slaughtered leaving the saviours to rejoice in their win. No one mourns the 'villain'. No one performs any funeral rights. They're just left to rot or hung as a warning to any opposing forces.

All that mattered in this moment was the soft crackling and warmth that caressed my body.

"Do you know, when I found you bundled on my doorstep" she muses running a smooth finger against my cheek. "I thought it was a cruel attempt at a joke. Sending me the one thing I craved and couldn't have" she murmurs cupping my face with her soft hands. "Yet when I pulled back the blankets and you opened your tiny eyes to the world, nothing happened" she chuckles pressing her forehead against mine. "Although I am grateful for you, I wish you could experience the world like everyone else" she whispers. "There's so much beauty in this cold cruel world"

Those were the last words, my mother shared with me. The last time I heard her voice. The last time I felt her warmth before she was taken from me. I know the world saw her as nothing more than a villain, I could hear it in their voices. The disgust and fear dripping from their tounges before they met their end. Yet no one knew her as I did. No one heard the soft sighs that she released once the deed was done. No one heard her continue her prayers to the goddess who had long abandoned her.

"I want to make them feel this pain" I barely utter clasping my hand against my chest. "You know that isn't what she would want" a soft voice assures me. "She would want you to flourish and grow"

"You're her, aren't you. The one who caused her to suffer as she did" I state turning toward the voice. "I was rash, as was your mother. All I can do for her now is guide you" she sighs placing a warm hand against my face. "Come, it's time I take you to your real home. There you will learn about your real parents and in turn flourish into something strong and beautiful"
