"I can't say I've ever heard of someone with your condition. Even among the gods being able to see a single person or colour when blind is pretty unique" A new voice cut in before a hand was placed on my shoulder. "I'm Grover by the way" they state removing their hand. "So what you're saying is even among demi-gods, I'm a freak" I hum, rubbing my thumb of the denim covering my thighs. "Freak is a bit harsh" Beverly mumbles beside me.

"Tonight we will be doing something a little different" Chiron calls. "Tonight you will all be blind folded in order to even the odds" he chuckles. "That doesn't seem like evening the odds" I snort, pulling my hair into the elastic from my wrist. "your enhanced senses dont seem fair either" Percy mutters from infront of me. "What use is senses when you've never learnt to defend yourself" I hum, sliding my hand into Beverly's. "I'm assuming I 'm in your team" I hum.

"This is literally the blind leading the blind" I snicker. Bev had her hand on my shoulder as she quietly followed behind me. "Well i'm assuming you can hear anyone approaching well before me" She chuckles. "Can I ask you something?" she hesitantly asks.

"fire away, i have a feeling we have a lot of time" I muse, stopping to lean against a tree, pulling Bev along side me. "Well usually someone is sent out from the camp to retrieve half bloods but you just appeared out of no where. how did you find this place?"

I had two choices here. Lie to the only friend I have ever mad in my existence or tell her the truth. Being the fickle person I am, I choose the latter option mixed with the first. "My mother was murdered" I calmly start feeling her tense before me. "She had spent her life in sorrow only to be killed for her possessions. A woman, one my mother use to think the world of found me. I thought she would be the last person to come to my aid. She brought me here and then i saw Percy, the rest you know" I hum, tilting my head to the sky. I might not be able to see the stars but at least I can smell the fresh night air. Feel the temperature dropping against my skin. "So until you're claimed only the gods know who you are" Bev sadly hums, her hand squeezing mine.

A snap broke the silence between us. I quietly shifted so i was in front of Bev once more. "Hey (f/n) are we still inside the camp barrier?" Bev whispers, fidgeting behind me. "Barrier?" I hesitate. "yes. the barrier that protects us from things that want to eat us" She shakily murmurs. "I. I don't know" I swallow hearing the snaps close the distance. "Fuck it. I don't mind being disqualified"  She hastily states. I hear her shuffle around for a second. before complete silence. "(f/n)" she stiffly whispers. "What?"

"We need to walk backwards slowly" she says, her voice trembling. "We're outside the barrier" I murmur. "and the noise stopped a few feet away".

"That's because it can see us" she whimpers sounding close to tears. "I need you to move behind me. Guide us backwards" I softly state. I could hear the creatures ragged breathing, feeling its gaze practically tearing us apart. The snaps started up again this time accompanied by the sobs of Bev. "I can't believe I'm doing this" I quietly murmur, before looking towards the heaven. If one of you could send me a miracle, I would love that right now. The snaps begun to pick up pace. "Bev. You need to run." I calmly state. "It's picking up pace whether we run or not. So run and scream your ass off"
