Chelsea Grace groaned as she reached for her phone on the bedside table failing. Her head throbbed with pain as the memories of last night flooded in.
She looked down at the cuts marking her arms, and flashed back to the deserted road which had ditches every few metres, she kept running as the moon shined brightly lighting up her path.
Looking around she saw nothing but miles and miles of field stretching across the horizon. But she was very much aware of the bridge behind her hanging above a few hundred metre fall. And the person standing on it.
'Stop. ' She shook herself out of the memory and tried forgetting all about it but secrets have a way of seeping out from the cracks of the wall we build around them.
'I don't want to think about it again. '
They are not enslaved to our mind but to nature. And as nature would have it she wasn't the only girl who saw the horrifying view, but there were two more girls oblivious of each other.
Chelsea decided to cut school today and stayed in her bed and tried to sleep without having another nightmare.
.......................
Unlike Chelsea, Emerald decided to go to school and face yet another horror.
Walking through the halls she kept her head hung low and avoided everyone and everything coming in her way.She saw the classroom door just few steps ahead of her and had thought she was safe until she heard a voice behind her.
'Andrea! Wait up. ' Oh no! It was her teammate on soccer team, the one she was the captain of. She turned around.
'Hi, what's up? ' she meekly replied.
'You tell me, you don't look so good. '
Indeed she didn't with hair disheaved and dark circles under her eye as she couldn't sleep all night, well as much as was left of it.
'Nothing just worried about the match on a Thursday. '
On Thursday her team was going to compete against the team of another high school. But she was not worried about the match, she knew they were going to win not to sound cocky but her team was of the best teams in the state and the other weren't much of a competition.
'Chill, we got the cat in the bag. ' The team mate reassured with a skeptical look on her face. She had never seen Emerald worried so much over a match. She looked like sh*t.
'Its going to be easy. ' she reassured again.
Hearing those words pulled Emerald back to that night.
'It would be easy. ' she heard a low voice ahead of her as she walked on the grassy fields towards a silhouette standing on the bridge.
'Hey! ' she heard her voice call out or maybe it was her teammate. But the silhouette turned around and her face shone in the moonlight and her light brown hair or they were golden it was not clear to her whipped around widely.
'Help me...' She heard her whisper.
She started moving towards her but somebody jumped out from the shadows and gripped her.
She fought to free herself but the person was strong. The person, a guy hit her across the head and the girl froze for a moment, Andrea started walking forward and girl started struggling this time harder.....but a sound made them both stop. The guy had pulled out a gun and was pointing it towards the sky. A gunshot was sounded.
The sound shook Emerald out of her thoughts, the bell was ringing, it was the bell, she tried to calm herself down.
And entered the class. It started and passed. One by one all her classes passed with each reminding her of the gunshot.
