After a silent breakfast and traded dirty looks I decided to assert my dominance over the boys, making myself group leader and so within half an hour we were back on the highway.
I am driving, with Mystica curled up on a pillow in the passenger seat. The boys are both in the back, refusing to look at each other or say a word. Their damn prides will be the death of them.
"Do either of you two want to pick a song?" The silence continues. "If one of you doesn't choose I will play something you won't like... Fine. You asked for this."
I find an old compilations CD and turn up the volume to maximum. The pre-puberty squeaking of Justin Beiber fills the car. Nothing. Not one word or even a twitch comes from either them. Mystica opens an eye at me and hisses. I switch it off to not cause anymore pain to us. I groan in annoyance, I need a new plan fast.
At the next layby, I pull over and get out. Radley shortly follows, then Damari, neither looking at the other.
"We are not going another mile till you pair sort your shit out." I fold my arms across my chest and raise my eyebrows. Neither moves. "We shall play a game then."
Flames surrounded Radley and Damari in a circle which I force to start shrinking, pushing them closer together. Water starts splashing against the flames but I push it away, making the circle even tighter.
They still don't look at each other even though they are now a few feet apart. The flames brush against Radley's arm and he cries out in pain but I still force the flames further towards them.
When they are finally stood back to back, I kill the flames and walk over to them. I grab Radley's arm and heal it instantly.
"I'm sorry I hurt you. That wasn't meant to happen but I refuse to have you both not talking." Radley kisses my cheek which I hope means he forgives me, before offering an outstretched hand to Damari, who takes it and they hug each other.
"Was that really so fricking hard?" They both shrug and I sigh loudly. "Get in the car, you morons."

The next few days fly by in a blur of roads, restaurants and campsites until we see the sign we'd been looking for: 'Welcome to the State of Alabama'.
"Not to ask a stupid question but do we know where abouts Thorne is in the state?" I ask, realising that I didn't have a clue.
"Shit. I don't think so. I think going to Montgomery will be the best bet as it's the capital city." Radley adds from the back.
"Ok, we'll drive to the there and book into a hotel, a pet friendly one. Then search tomorrow." They mutter their agreement and I accelerate down the motorway, I want to be there before tea.
By the time we get there it's gone seven so I am starving. We find a nice looking hotel right in the city centre who are more than happy to let Mystica stay. The boys will share one room and she and I another.
I leave her curled up on my bed and join the boys to search for food. We find a small restaurant a few streets away who have the most amazing burgers and strawberry milkshakes.
"Hey, look at her arm." I whisper in Radley's ear, indicating at a red haired young woman in the booth next to us who is sitting alone. She has a tattoo almost identical to his.
He leaves our table and goes over to her's, sliding his sleeve up to reveal his tattoo. They both return to our table and she sits next to a nervous looking Damari.
"Hello, my name is Elsie." Her smile appears genuine as she looks us over.
"I'm Damari and this is Radley and Aerona." He points at us awkwardly. I've forgotten how badly he copes with new people.
"I've never seen you before. What brings you to Montgomery?"
"I am from South Dakota and these two are from Wales, in England." I scowl and kick his leg, to which he yelps.
"Wales is its own country." I snap, I'm a proud national. Elsie laughs at my frowning. "We came her to find Thorne."
Her drink goes crashing to the ground, sending glass and lemonade flying.
"You cannot say that name around here. Why would you want to see that traitor?" He voice is quite and scared.
"He has information regarding our families whereabouts." Damari quickly says.
"Because you don't know anything and seen to have good intentions, I shall keep this quite but if another Dewin heard you say that name.... I need to go now. Where are you staying? I shall meet you at eleven tomorrow and take you to him." Radley tells her and she leaves, wishing us a good evening.
"Well that was foreboding." Damari laughs, trying to lighten the mood and failing, miserably.
We pay our bill and walk back to the hotel, the whole way I am praying Mystica hasn't destroyed anything. I hug Damari, who quickly leaves, so I kiss Radley goodnight.
Mystica is sleeping on my bed in a pile of feathers. I want to bloody kill her, they will cost us a fortune to replace.
I quickly shower and change into my pjs and climb into the massive bed. The silk sheets are amazingly comfortable and I take a while to fall asleep, Elsie's warning playing on my mind.
