you left my soul bleeding in
the dark so you could be king
the rules you set are still untold
to me and i've lost my faith
in everythingTHERE WASN'T A MOMENT when people weren't looking at her. The worst part was that it all would've been avoidable if Lady Catelyn hadn't insisted on taking walks with Hermione so she could gain her "strength back".
Hermione knew she meant well, the woman seemed to be her only source of true company in Riverrun. She would bring Hermione her meals, help her bathe and get dressed, even shoot an occasional deathly glare at anybody with a wandering eye and hushed tones directed at the Camlotean.
Still, it had been a week and four days since she arrived at Riverrun and not only had the curiosity over her not died down, but she had only seen Robb in passing. Their conversations steering towards stale pleasantries. What was even worse was that every time Hermione broached the subject of the King in the North, Lady Catelyn would chalk his absent behaviour to stress.
"It's a beautiful day out is it not?" Catelyn said as they made for their second time around the castle.
"It would be more beautiful if I could enjoy it from the comfort of my bed," Hermione joked trudging along pitifully beside the elated woman, Grey Wind stuck to her heels. In the passing days, Hermione noticed the direwolf hadn't left her side. He slept in her chamber room with her, went on walks and nearly attacked any stranger that came near. And though there were times Grey Wind and Catelyn managed to take her mind off its dark track. It was undeniable that the same bitter emptiness which had taken residence in her chest during Hermione's imprisonment in King's Landing had seemingly returned at her arrival to Riverrun; all she wanted to do was wallow in the darkness and dream.
Catelyn held onto Hermione's arm and pulled her along just a bit quicker. "Oh, stop it," she shushed. "A little fresh air is good for you."
"I think I've gotten enough fresh air to last me a lifetime." Her eyes took in the tall grass and thick trees which bordered the Red Fork. The two women's path led them across a small hill overlooking all of Robb's men as they sat around talking and drinking merrily.
