'"Let's go!" Brian yells at me from inside his car. I set Holden, my baby brother in his car seat, and walk to the other side of the car. Brian is my uncle or if you want to call him 'my official guardian'. He just turned thirty-six a couple weeks ago, but he looks older than he is, I think it's because he was drunk all the time, but that is just me. He has long shaggy brown hair, and greenish eyes. I opened the passenger door to his car and looked in. There was a chip bag on the ground and an empty soda bottle on the seat. The seats were leather and a yellowish color. I look back at Holden and he is already asleep. I sit in the seat hoping it's clean enough to not get my dress dirty.

I am wearing a black dress with a flower just below my left shoulder. My black high heels have a white flower near my toes. The ring on my right hand has a diamond with gold surrounding it also has two gold leafs on each side of the diamond. I also have a diamond necklace around my neck, it has a matching bracelet, but since my brother, Connor gave it to me I put it in his casket.

In the big line of cars we were the second one. A flag was on the left side of Brains gray car. I look ahead of us and see a blue mini van pull to the side of the road when he saw the first cars flag. I stare the big limo in front of us the whole way there.

It was silent in the car till the car parked in the wet grass by a blue tent and the engine made a weird sound. Brian got out of the car and open the door next to Holden. His hand reached for Holden, my baby brother, but I put my hand on Holden's leg first. Holden is only sixteen months old; he barely has any hair, but the hair he has is dirty blonde like mine. I put a mini suit on him this morning and he looks adorable in it. People say he looks like me mostly because of his bright blue eyes look just like mine, but I think the rest of him looks like my dad. He is all I have left of my family. I have some grandparents, but I don't see them that much.

I carry Holden out of the car in my arms. He was asleep, but the wind woke him up once outside. A man walks up me with a half smile on his face. He must be a friend of my dads because he is in his police uniform, but a close enough friend that I know his name.

"I'm sorry for your lose, June." He says firmly. He knows my name, but I don't know his. I nod like I do whenever someone tells me that. I don't know how many times I heard that today. I don't talk to anyone and look at the three caskets under the tent. I sit down in the first row of family chairs, which only has one chair. Brian went off somewhere probably to go smoke. He wasn't a good brother to my father. I only saw him once before my family died, and that is when he came to my family for money and of course we didn't give it to him because he wouldn't use it for good.

The man in front of me, dressed in black standing up, started to talk. I look at Holden; he fell asleep again on my lap. I started crying, so did Holden, but he calmed down after a while. It started to rain, it seems whenever there is a funeral it rains like in the movies my dad took me to once in a while.

I cry even harder like no one was around. Someone put there hand on my shoulder, I didn't look back to see who it was because Nathan always did that when he saw I was sad. Nathan is my best friend and his dad was a best friend with my dad. I knew him ever since I was little. He is the same age as me, but just a few months older. He is probably the only person in the world that I trust and love, besides Holden. He takes his hand off when it is over.

"Let's go kid." I look over my shoulder and Brian stands a few feet away with his arms crossed. I stand up with Holden. I look around and everyone is already going to there cars. I am sure that I am not the only one that cared about my family because unlike me they were the nicest people I have ever met. They knew when to keep there mouth shut and always said something nice.

"I have a name." I reply and he mumbles something under his breathes. I look at the empty chairs behind me. I am glad no one asked how I was doing before they left because the truth is I don't know. I wipe a tear from my cheek. I am sick and tired of people asking how I am because they now my life is horrible and they know how I feel, but they ask anyway.

When we get into Brian's car again I buckle Holden in. This time I sit in the back with Holden, so he is with me and I can protect him. Then I fall asleep in the car even though it wasn't a smooth car ride.

The jolt of the car stopping woke me up. I look up and see what looked like an abandon apartment, but there were cars parked around the building, so Brian wasn't the only one who lived here.

We go inside and the guy behind the counter looked like he hates everyone. Brian's room door had an 81 on it but I doubt there are 81 rooms in this small building. I walk in the apartment and there are cloths and food all around. Brian kicks cloths around.

"You sleep there." He points to a yellowish brownish couch. "I cleaned it." He lifts the cushions of the couch and throws them in a hallway nearby. A recliner pops out and knocks Brian over. He gets up and kicks the couch then rubs his ankle. I look at the recliner and there's a hot dog bun on it that Brian flicks off. I am not sleeping on that.

"Ta, da!" Holden starts to cry. I rock him in my arms.

"Holden doesn't like it." I say to Brian and he frowns.

"The bed?" He replies.

"No Brian! The whole place! I could report you, you know, but me and Holden will be out of here by tomorrow, so I don't need to worry about you much longer." I say a little louder than I meant it to be. I press my lips together and close my eyes.

"Whatever." He mumbles after a while. When I open my eyes he is gone. I have 2,000 dollars in my purse right now, and I could use some dinner. I grab Holden's carrier and put him in it. I crouch down, so I am level with his head.

"Go to sleep." I say to him. I grab his carrier and head out the door. Dinner was a Wendy's sandwich off the dollar menu, and I fed Holden when I got back to the apartment. Instead of the couch I decide to sleep in a lawn chair. I wonder why Brian agreed to be the guardian of Holden and me. He doesn't care about us at all. I fall asleep with Holden in my arms safe and sound. I just wish I could of protected my parents and my brother like I am Holden.
