Description:

This is an AU where Keith and Lance both live in London in the early 1900s. I think you'll figure the rest out.

Genre: Not very serious, but not entirely hilarious. Just pure shipping.

Lance McClain, a successful banker, was heading to his job one morning. He was trying to get to work early so he could flirt with the secretary of the bank, Nyma. Unfortunately, many other people were trying to get to their job as well. Well, it was a little unfortunate, but that meant that there were many pretty ladies walking around. Seeing as how he's very successful, women basically begged to be with him. There were also a lot of very attractive women in London, which gave Lance a lot of opportunities to be suave and impress all of the ladies.

Speaking of pretty ladies, one was passing by him. She was rather thin, kind of short, and was wearing a bowler hat with a flower in it. The thing that really made her attractive was her hair. She had hair that was a little long, but still rather short for a woman. It was the deepest shade of black he'd ever seen, too. It was a lot darker than anything around them, which made this woman stand out more. Lance had to get near her.

Lance decided to walk up to her and talk. He slinked back his hair and walked up confidently. The woman wasn't smiling. In fact, she looked rather stern and stressed. Lance found that a little concerning, but it wasn't going to stop him. When the woman saw him, she lowered her eyes and picked up the pace. Lance continued to follow her and made his intentions clear.

"Hello there, Missy. What're you in such a hurry for?" Lance asked the lady.

"None of your business, Missy," the woman snapped back in a shockingly low voice.

"Calm down there, Miss. I'm just a little curious," Lance replied.

"Well, Mr., I'm on my way to a nanny job. Don't get the wrong idea though, I'm not a Miss," the woman stated.

                  "Oh, you're married."

                  "No, I'm a man."

Lance's face fell and his jaw dropped. At first, he didn't believe it, but the more that he looked at him, the more he believed it. The eyelashes weren't as long as the average female, and he didn't really have any breasts. Even if he was wearing a flowered bowler hat, he was also wearing pants. Then again, Lance had originally assumed that that was just because he was a suffragette. The hair was probably the most confusing feature, since it looked so much like a female's. Lance didn't know how he felt. On one hand, the fact that he looked like an attractive woman made him look beautiful, but the fact that he was a man made things a little... complicated. After all, if anyone figured out that Lance and this man were together, they could be imprisoned, or worse. Besides, Lance wasn't a homosexual, he was just attracted to this person that looked like a woman.

"Why does your hat have a flower in it?" Lance asked.

"Trust me, I tried to remove it," the man replied.

                  "What's your name, Mister?"

"Keith Kogane. Why do you even care?"

                 "Manners, you know."

"Well, you know my name. You can leave now."

"Hang on, you don't know my name."

"Why are you so interested in me? Do I need to call the police?"

"No, I'm not interested in you in that  way, you just seem like a person that has a cool personality."

"Don't you have a wife you need to get to?"

"Me? A wife? Please, you're talking to Lance McClain!"

"And that should impress me why?"

"Because I'm one of the best bankers in London!"

           "Says who, your secretary?"

            "Pft, of course not..."

"Look, you and I both have lives that we need to live, so just go."

"Wait, do you want to meet up some time?"

             "Absolutely not."

             "Why not?"

"Because I don't have any reason to."

And with that, Keith Kogane picked up his pace and walked up to a family's doorstep. Lance watched as he left, a little disappointed that he wouldn't be able to get to know Keith better. It was probably for the best, seeing as how Lance couldn't look at Keith without thinking about a gorgeous woman. Lance turned the corner that lead into the bank, a slight drag to his step. Nyma greeted him when he walked through the door.

"Well, it looks like someone's early today," she said with a bit of a flirty tone.

"Hello, Nyma. I better get back to investments and debts," Lance responded a little disappointed.

"What, are you too busy to talk to me this morning?" Nyma asked.

"I just need to make up for the time that I've missed."

             "But you're early."

"Okay, I'm making up for the time that I missed earlier this week."

             "You've never been late before."

"Well, I feel like I was, so I'll tell you if I need your help."

Lance walked up to his workspace and slumped into his seat. He didn't know why he couldn't get Keith's face out of his head. Not because he was madly in love or anything, but because he was so much more different than any other person he'd ever met. He really wanted to get to know Keith, but it was clear that Keith didn't feel the same way. Lance went back to his job and tried to forget Keith. It didn't work.
