(y/n) was often compared to a hermit crab. She would often crawl back into her shell to find protection. She bares this because she doesn't like facing certain things. Meeting new people, when she gets nervous, things like that. Yuma was actually one of the first merfolk to break her shell. Yuma being loud and very energetic, of course he got into her shell somehow.

However, under the sea was amazing. Everything was so quaint but the merfolk grew ignorant over time. The humans and merfolk became so disconnected now. The humans don't believe in them, but the merfolk suffer everyday because of them. The oil, trash, plastic, etc. keep on ruining their lives. Some children are being affected by this, the future generation.

(y/n) being trained with medical science, knew a lot about the the waste. She could easily help the ones in need. From breathing in oil, to the ones who have plastic around their tails. This is truly tragic. But, (y/n) is only a person in training. She doesn't know everything, she only know more than the basics. Beyond the basics and further than that.

The small village sink had to travel out into the ocean soon. Yuma, had to go out with the crew. (y/n) of course packed things that would keep him safe. Soon the day came, the day of departure. Everyone said goodbye to their family. (y/n) arrived to give her goodbyes.

"Farewell." She smiled.

Yuma kisses her lips, her face became so red. He pulled away as some bubbles escaped from (y/n) lips. Yuma chucked, "Ahaha, you look like you're going to blow up like a puffer fish!"

(y/n)'a face became redder, "Does it...?"

"I'm only joking, but you would be a cute puffer fish!" He smiled as he placed a kiss on her cheek.

(y/n) sighed, "Be safe... I love you..."

They hugged then parted. She began to wave as the crew swam away. They'll be back by tomorrow, hopefully.

Tomorrow finally came for everyone. As late twilight came, they saw everyone come back. (y/n) rushed over to see Yuma, however he was nowhere to be seen. Where was this lobster man? She frantically looked at everyone, desperately looking for her lover. But Yuma was gone, she asked around. (y/n) needed to know what happened to Yuma.

(y/n) without thinking swam back home. She packed all of her medical supplies and went out of the village. She was in a rush to find him. (y/n) swam so far off, she could only see the blueness. Though she still continued her search. Soon she could see the stars from the sky above. (y/n) poked her head slightly out of the water. She stared up at the stars, maybe these shiny objects can tell her where Yuma was. Though (y/n) soon retreated back into the water when she saw a ship.

(y/n) swam to the bottom, she rested as closed her eyes for a brief sleep. Later on she was awoken by sounds and groaning in pain, from a creature. As she swam closer, there was a dolphin laying on Yuma's lap. He was soothing the gentle creature. (y/n) gasped and swam closer to Yuma.

"Yuma, what happened?" (y/n) gasped.

"(y/n)?! You're here?" Yuma stammered.

"O-of course I went to go find you! Aw poor thing..." (y/n) got out her supplies. She began to heal the creature, at the best to her abilities.

"Humans did this." Yuma sighed out sadly.

(y/n) froze, with fear.
