She was.... different. When Johnny first glanced at the frail looking girl he' d never seen before, he was reminded of a flower. She was pretty, for a colored girl that is, so Johnny didnt put in much thought into it. Not until Wes, his bestfriend pulled over to where she was walking. He had done this before; taunting and harassing colored people to scare them and get a good laugh. Johnny had also participated before, but he had an unknown feeling in the pit of his stomach."you comin?" his other bestfriends Frankie and James who were twins, asked in unison. "nah", Johnny replied staring the girl over. He could tell she wasnt from Jackson, or the south for that matter. The way she walked and didnt flee when she saw the truck was a dead giveaway. Her hair was long, shiny, and wavy, something Johnny had never seen on a colored girl. Her bouncy locks went flying when Wes shoved her to the ground, as if they were angry, then fell back into place. Frankie and James laughed. Wes inched closer to the girl and grabbed a fistful of her hair, gently at first, then yanked it. Her face twisted in pain as she flailed her arms in an attempt to fight back. Johnny, not knowing why, jumped out of the car. "Wes! Come on man she's obviously not from here." Suprised, Wes released her hair. " So? Thats why im giving the nigga a proper welcome. Now come hold her arms." The girl, who's dress was now dirty, looked up at Wes, then at me, and spit right above his lip. Very bad move. In the nick of time, I grabbed Wes's arms and wrenched them behind his back, saving the fearless, but dumb, girl from a major beating. " Let 'im go Johnny that shrew deserves what she gets!" Frankie yelled from behind me. " YOU FUCKING DIRTY.WHORE! LET ME GO!" Wes protested angrily. It took the smallest things to make him furious and this was not exactly small. The girl tried to run, but James grabbed her. " James let her go before Wes kills her! " Johnny urged his face getting hot. He couldnt hold Wes for much longer. Sensing this situation was going to be trouble for them all, he let the girl free. She ran like the wind, hair flying, into the nearby woods.
