Birds chirp as the sound of sprinklers echoes around me. I lay in bed not wanting the day to come. It's so peaceful and relaxing, why must it end by going to a stupid human school. I never went to a human school before, we learned from our elders about necessary skills such as math, English, science, history, and foreign languages such as French, Italian, and Latin. Along with fighting skills and other wolf skills. There's letterly no point when I 'graduated' a year and a half ago.
Am I nervous? No, a better word to describe what I'm feeling is dread. The dread of actually having to communicate with measly humans. The dread of feeling like I'm in a cage in a petting zoo. Why do we have to live in secret while humans can live however they please? My anger getting the best of me, my fists tighten around the loose sheets.
A knock on the door down below forces me to rise from heaven, aka my bed, and answer it. I open the door wide so the person can come in knowing who it is since I got up.
"Nice shirt, little sis." Jake walks in pointing at my comfy white tee that had the words 'No pants are the best pants'
"Yeah, yeah. What's for breakfast?" I ask as I walk up the loft stairs to change. Sleep still pulls at my eyes and limbs.
"Um. Eggs, bacon, and toast. The usual if Dad doesn't burn anything. It was weird walking into the kitchen and smelling food but not seeing you cooking it." Jake paces around as I dress and brush my hair and teeth.
"Oh shit, I better get in there before Dad burns the whole house down." I laugh as we walk out of my studio. The kitchen's fire alarm was going off and the smell of burnt toast filled my nose as we enter. It's a sharp contrast to the fresh morning air outside. I walk over to my frantic father and push him away from the stove and smoking toaster. "We just moved in so please don't burn it down."
"I guess that would be a good idea." He walks over to the bar and sits with his head in his hands mumbling about something along the lines of "I'm a horrible father. What alpha can't make toast?".
By the time the smoke cleared, I had finished an eatable breakfast. We all sat down around the table to eat when I asked, "When do we have to leave for school?" Dad's eyes widened as he scrambled for his phone.
"Five minutes ago!" He stood up fast and took all the plates full of food from us to the kitchen. "Get up and go or you two are going to be late!"
"I was eating that!" Both Colton and I yell at the same time. All we got in return from our father was a shove to the door and a bag of school books.
Colton turned to me, "How are we going to get there in time if we walk?" I smile at him and walk off the porch to one of three cars parked in the driveway.
"Who said we're walking?" I ask as I rise the stolen keys in the air. Unlocking the car, we both get in to start the purring monster.
"Have I ever told you that you are the coolest sister?" I shake my head no. "Oh, and Dad is going to kill you." I roll my eyes and take off down the road once we pull up directions.
With my amazing driving skills behind the wheel with 1,300 horsepower, we arrived with four minutes to spare before the first bell. I noticed as we pulled into the parking lot of the school, everyone's eyes were on us. This is one way to make a first impression. From the looks of it, they don't get a lot of newcomers.
Our family seemed rich but since my father is Alpha back when things were normal. In human eyes, we looked like a powerhouse gang or mafia but we are much worse with claws, fangs, and superhuman strength.
I pull into a spot upfront and put the car in park. I take a deep breath to keep myself calm, dreading the next eight hours. My brother steps out of the car first and takes a deep breath, more like a sniff. Following his actions, we look at each other with an all-knowing eye.
Wolves, but the wolf that stood out the most was the alpha. His scent was strong and intoxicating. The smell of rain and woods drawing me in, wanting more. It almost had me floating towards it. I snap out of my little daydream once I see my bright eyes in the reflection of the car window, then locking the car and walk into the school with Colton following close behind. We both got our schedules and went our separate ways. I disliked the idea of him being by himself around this many creatures and humans.
The classes so far have been boring and full of useless information. Walking down the hall from my class to lunch the scent hit me again. From what I can tell, he is in top health and in peak physical condition. There's something else about his scent that's sending me in a loop but I can't figure it out.
Suddenly, I'm on the ground along with another girl. She has beautiful ginger hair and green eyes with the scent of sex. Succubus. "I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going," I say as I gather her books to hand to her. I can't believe I was so distracted by his scent to not notice her's.
"Watch it, new girl! There won't be another." She stood up with the help of two other girls, dressed in the same slutty style she was in. One smelled like a fish, mermaid. The other smelled like an unloyal dead wolf, a werewolf.
"Go crawl back to the cave you came from because dogs aren't allowed." The werewolf said as she showed her claws. What's up with that? I apologized and that should've been that.
I hate being called a fucking dog, "I'm not a dog." I growl lowly. Anger pulses through my veins like fire. My fists clenched so tight, blood slowly oozes from my hands, dripping one drop at a time on the floor.
"Her.. her eyes." The mermaid gasps covering her mouth.
"I didn't know they let murders in The Gates." The succubus stated with a smirk. I growl again, showing my teeth, knowing what they are talking about. I was about to lunge at their throats but I ran out the side door to my right instead.
As soon as I hit the tree line behind the school's rec. field I shifted and took off sprinting. The soil beneath my feet feels amazing as a run deeper into the forest, weaving in and out of trees. The dew moistens my paws and it's like I'm transformed into a spirit of the woods. I've been bottling up my anger since we left with no way of releasing it.
After about an hour or so the feeling of someone watching washed over me, but since I'm still fired up I keep running. Hot anger still burns through me. A large white figure appears in front of me causing me to skid to a stop. My breath is heavy. The wolf that stood before me was huge, Alpha huge. He's a beautiful snow-white with Alpha red eyes.
What do I do? Being an Alpha's daughter made it so I can't be submissive, so the only thing that I can think of doing is to run. That's what I do, I run. Once again my paws grip into the dew ridden mud as a race through trees.
