Chapter 20 : fly away

We arrive home and I'm a mess. My mascara is everywhere. My mom meets me at the door and engulfs me into a massive hug. "Mom I'm so sorry." I say into her chest. "Oh no honey it's not your fault." She says. I look up at her and she's tearing up. We walk into the family room and I lay my head on Ryland's chest the rest of my body curled up in a little ball. I wipe away the tears so they don't get on his shirt. He plays with my hair. Everyone else is talking to mom and Dad about the meeting with the principle.

"Rosie I know it seems like the end of the world but it's not I promise." Ryland says. "But I didn't do it Ry I didn't do it I swear." I say crying harder. "We all know you didn't Rose." He says. "I know who did it." I say. Ryland stops playing with my hair. "Who?" He asks. "Skye did it.. but I don't want to dob her in." I say crying. "It's.. it's not fair I don't want to be that person... she made a mistake.. it's not her fault." I say. I can tell Ryland is gobsmacked. "Rosie.. I..." mom comes inside and hugs me again. "It's been a big afternoon I've made some mac and cheese why don't have some dinner." She says forcing a smile. I feel horrible.

We sit down at the dinner table and begin to eat. It's silent for a solid 15 minutes before Dad speaks. "Right well we're not going to sit here Sad and upset I say we go on a road trip." Everyone seems pretty happy with it. "Where to?" Rydel asks. "How about Mexico we've never been to Mexico as a whole family." Riker says emphasising the 'whole family'. Everyone nods. "Let's do it." Rocky says. "Sweet." Ross says. "Can we bring significant others?" Rydel asks. Mom and dad nod and then everyone looks at me. "Rosie we could invite Ethan if you wanted but he would have to sleep with the boys and.." I cut my dad off. "It's okay. The boys won't want to sleep in a room together anyways.. and I don't mind it's better as a family holiday." I say. "We wouldn't mind." Riker says. "Yeah and I'm sure the girls wouldn't mind either." Rydel says. "No no it's okay." I say smiling. Everyone nods.

"Okay well I'll book the tickets tonight and we'll leave Wednesday morning." My Dad says. After dinner I go straight to bed.

I wake up the next morning and check the stories. I didn't realise how many people put videos or photos of them and their friends at school. It boiled my blood and made me sad at the same time. I walk out to the kitchen and Rydel is sitting at one of the bar stools eating a bagel. "Hey Rose, Ellington and I were thinking of going shopping for Mexico soon wanna come?" She asks. "Yeah okay." I say grinning. "Hey Rose look on the bright side WE'RE GOING TO MEXICO!" She yelled making me giggle. I go to my room and get ready.

I decide to wear a denim jacket and a grey hoodie with leggings and my old school vans. I wear my hair out with a small pony on top with a scrunchie. I put on a bit of concealer and mascara on.

We go to a lot of shops and get some cute summery clothes and Rydel and Ellington made me laugh so much I thought I would pee. We sit down for lunch and I get a some fries a garden salad and a mango smoothie, Ellington gets something similar. "Look how healthy you two are it disgusts me!" Rydel says making us all giggle. "You excited for Mexico!?" Ellington asks making us giggle. "Very." I say grinning. We have lunch and then go back home where the boys all play Xbox and I join in. "Think about it Rose were gonna be in Mexico for one whole week with no x-box." Ross says. "You have to play the x-box." He continues. I nod giggling. "It would be disrespectful not to." Rocky adds on.

"Now remember kids you all have to make yourselves to the air port at 5am for an early flight." My mom says sitting down and watching us play Fifa. Then dinner arrives and we have pizza. Mom didn't want to cook anything because she knew that any left over food would go off. We all then head to bed for an early morning. I pack my suitcase and carry-on for Mexico the next morning.

I wake up at 4:30 and put some sweat pants on a black singlet. I throw my hair into a bun and put some uggs on. Then I grab my bags and head to the kitchen. Mom made us little to go bags and Ross, Courtney, Rydel and Ellington all hop into the van half asleep. I drink my little to-go orange juice but leave my breakfast bar then I lay on Ross' shoulder and he lays on Courtney's shoulder and we both fall asleep. I can hear my mom yell. "Oh they look so cute! Take my phone and take a picture." I ignore it assuming it's probably Rydel and Ellington when I massive flash interrupts my sleep. Ross and I immediately wake up and Rydel yells "Got it!" Ross and I roll our eyes and go back to sleep. I wake up and we get out the cab at the airport.

We arrive and put our baggage in and then head to the international area where the food and shops are. I grab a fruit salad and mango smoothie from one of shops and eat breakfast. We wait for everyone else to arrive. Not gonna lie I'm kind of excited for this trip with my family I mean Mexico is a pretty amazing place and Rydel and Riker have been and said it was amazing.
