Chapter 1

Dreams

It started as a dream.

I didn't dream often, and when I did, it was bad news. That night, I dreamed of being in pain, and suddenly there was a wolf right where I used to be standing, and that's where I woke up. I was sweating hard, and freaked out. I jumped up, grabbing a towel on the way to my bathroom for a shower. As I stepped out, I heard my name being called. "coming" I yelled, toweling myself off. I threw on some jeans and a pretty tank top and ran downstairs. Everyone was already up, early for a Saturday morning. I grabbed some toast and pea meal bacon and sat down in my chair. I looked around and my family was staring at me. "We heard the screams, what's happening this time?" my mother asked. I sat there slowly eating my breakfast. When I finished I got up, put my dishes in the sink, and walked outside to collect my thoughts. I walked to the lake near my house and dipped my feet in it as I sat collecting my thoughts. All I knew was that I was in pain and there was a wolf. I pulled my mirror out of my pouch that I always kept with me and studied myself. I had beautiful brown hair that looked red in the light, piercing green eyes, and a thin face. Most people call me a goddess and say that I'm lucky, but that's because they don't know about the nightmares. I sighed and got up, turning around to go home, and stopped short. There was a wolf standing just a few feet away.
