"Competition brings out the best in products and the worst in people."

It is a face that looks upon us
with pride and fairness.
It seems that its sole purpose
is to inspire and
encourage us to be our very best.
But there's a dark side to everything.
In the name of "friendly competition" opponents seek to destroy the other, revealing humanity's ugly face that
we desperately hide behind fake smiles.
Rewards are given to acknowledge an achievement with the purpose
of boosting confidence while
feeding the bitterness
that is always present
in the depths of our souls.
The arrogance, jealousy, and self-hatred
give rise to dispute
amongst friends
that are quickly becoming
fierce rivals.
What was once only
meant to be about improving
from your previous performance
is now a factory for animosity
and a reason to start
an unnecessary war.
Competition increases
the aspiration to be perfect.
But is perfection even possible?
No matter what you do,
there will always be
someone who will
criticize and mock you.
Perfection is what one person or a society believes to be ideal and acceptable
therefore it is impossible
because everyone has their own opinion.
Even if it was achieved,
life would become meaningless.
There would be no dreams,
no goals,
and no purpose to drive you.
Then Life itself would not be perfect
so I believe that
Imperfection is Perfection
and Individuality is magnificent.

"I never lose. I either win or learn." -Nelson Mandela
