Chapter 1~The Meeting

Pov: Cordelia

The year was 1776 and I had thought I had everything I ever wanted, until I met him.

But before we find out about him let me tell you the story from the beginning.

It was a warm spring morning I had just woken up and went downstairs, I was greeted by my older brother Arthur who was sitting at the table eating breakfast

"Good morning Cordelia," he said, I sat down next to him and a servant brought me some food. "Good morning Arthur, it's a lovely morning isn't it?" I said to him.

"Yes, indeed it is." He said, as I ate I thought about my family, how I missed them so much. I have 5 siblings and no parents, my father died in a duel and my mother got sick and the virus killed her.

I have 3 brothers the oldest is my brother Arthur and then his twin John, they are both 30 , the next oldest is Lee, he is 26. I also have 2 Sisters, the next oldest is Gianna, she is 24 then Lilly who is 21. Out of all of them I am the youngest, at the moment I was living with my brother Arthur in England.

He was the Head or as you might call it chief of all the army's and his favorite became one of the strongest British Armies, he was respected by all.

All my siblings were in Germany, back in our home town. They all decided to send me to England with my brother to find a suitable husband. All my other Siblings are married except Arthur and I, just to say I am 17 years old and I don't wanna get married to just anyone.

My Siblings want me to marry for love but if I can't find the perfect Man, my brother Arthur will have me marry a man of his choosing if I can't find a man in 2 years.

When I finished my breakfast Arthur said to me. " I will be meeting with the king today so you can go look around town," I was so excited until he said. "You must be accompanied by a guard at all times."

I groaned, "why can't I go by myself!" I wined.

"Because your safety is my number 1 priority!" He said in a stern voice. I sighed and agreed. We both got up from the table and our servants handed us our jackets, we exited the house and were greeted by a tall young solider who of course was supposed to be my guard.

I was 5'1 and the young soldier was 5'8 which I had to look up at him slightly to see his face, he was dressed in a high ranking uniform with the best fabric but I could tell he was a only a rookie. It was pretty funny how they made him look like a Commanding officer just to impress me.

The young soldier saluted to Arthur, he saluted back and said "what's your name Ladd?"
The young soldier responded with, "William Smith."
"Mr. Smith you will be taking care of my dearest baby sister Miss Warren," he said. The soldier nodded at me giving me his prize smile.

Mr. Smith bowed to me and said, "I am very honored to be protecting such a beautiful daffodil." I gave him my hand and he kissed it gently, I looked at Arthur and he was smiling at me. I knew Arthur was up to no good but I couldn't figure out what, I looked at the soldier and replied,

"the honor is all mine being taken care of by a gentleman." The soldier was now smiling like crazy and I finally figured out that Arthur was trying to set me up with this young soldier so I could get married faster,  Arthur knew that this kid was going to be a lead commander and wanted the best for both of us.

I thought there was no harm to it so I played along with their little matchmaking game, The servants brought 2 horses, Arthur's White horse and my Brown Horse.

The young soldier slid his bayonet to his back then a servant picked me up and handed me to the young soldier, he grabbed me and put me in front of him, he held the reins in on hand then he put his arm around my waist.
