A dreadful doubt

I sat with my bare legs swishing back and forth off the balcony and watched the world below waking up, I stared intensely at the ring on my left hand and watched it burn in the blazing sun. I felt the roaring fire and the heat pulsating through my veins. I felt at ease, a rare feeling these days it would seem. I sat simply thinking about the other worlds out there and all the people in them when suddenly I felt something come up behind me, I realised it was a somebody when I felt two hands on my shoulders push lightly on me shoulders tipping me slightly over the edge of the balcony. They rapidly pulled me back but it was too late for me to stop, I let out a loud screech which was abruptly stopped by a forceful hand covering my mouth. My lips turned cold at the touch.

"Calm down" came a smirked tone from behind me "You'll wake everyone" I turned to see Loki with his usual smug smile on his face, he came and sat next to me "Next time I will push you off" he raised his knee as he perched himself at the other side of the balconies ledge.

"What are you doing awake so early and what are you doing here?" I snapped

"Well I do apologize for coming to keep you company Sigyn, I was just passing"

"You know exactly what I meant Loki" I shot him a evil glare and he started laughing

"You could never be threatening to me Sigyn and you looked lonely, you know how I hate to see you on you own"

"Charming." I said bluntly "You should know, I like being lonely" I nudged him and gazed off into the distance "I like to be alone...Its better to be alone than in the presence of you"

"I am an Azgardian Prince, you are inferior to me, if your not careful I'll start making you kneel every time you see me as I do with others, and you'll also have to address me as your prince" he winked at me almost playfully.

"So you are the Loki, just a Prince" I knew I was going to hit a nerve.

"I can still be king" it was almost as if he was reassuring himself

"The throne is Thors Loki, you know that besides you wouldn't be a good ruler" I could see that this was no longer a light hearted joke, what I'd said had got to him

"I would be a better king than Thor" he said looking into this distance "I was born to rule" he gritted his teeth

"If its any consolation,I suppose I do prefer your company these days Loki" I smiled smugly

"Oh really now? and why would that be?"

"I like a trickster" I said standing up on the edge of the balcony "You're a bit of a mystery, although I like to think I can see straight through you" I looked down on him doing my best to be intimidating, even if only slightly.

"I quite like you sometimes" He smirked up at me

"I'm guess I'm glad"

"Having second thoughts?" he looked at the ring on my finger, he knew me. As much as I hated to admit it, He did.

"No of course not"

"You have no emotion when you look at it" he continued to smirk

"Yes I do, I'm overflowing with emotion" I scowelled, although it did sound almost sarcastic

"He's not right for you Sigyn"

"Theoric is a good man Loki"

"But he is no prince and I am also God"

"Why should it matter to me what you are?"

"Just, you should think your predicament through" I looked back down at the ring and then at Loki and sighed, he pulled a smug little smile
