I woke up to the smell of pancakes, I have one thing to say and that is I absolutely love my mums pancakes! So with that I ran into my bathroom, brushed my teeth and ran down the stairs, into the kitchen.

“Morning mum”, I said while taking 6 pancakes onto a plate.

“Dear you got an appetite today, your wolf appetite must be growing on you”, my mum turned around smiling and nodding towards my plate, of now drenched in syrup pancakes.

I smiled while I shovelled a huge bite into my mouth while my dad walked into the room with a newspaper. He sat opposite me at the breakfast bar. “So not lady like, you better slow down over there or someone might think that you hadn’t eaten in days!” I couldn’t help but show my dad all the food in my mouth before chewing and swallowing it. I hated it when my mum and dad tried to get me to be all lady like. I just wanted to relax, my house my rules. I mean it’s the only place I can do what I like without having to watch who’s around.

 “You got any plans for today dear?” my mum asked me with an unsure face and eyebrows raised.

 “Ummmm, im gonna phone Bethany…..see if she wants to come round or go shop-”

“Your not going out unless it is to Bethany’s house or your Nan’s” my dad butted in.

“And why not?! That’s not fair I haven’t done anything wrong!” I began to protest but my mum cut me off this time.

“Dear we need to keep you close by just in case something is to happen to you. Bethany is the same. You can phone her and tell her to come here if you like dear.”

 “Ok, fine! But I don’t see what the big deal is, im not 18 for a whole week still and nor is she.” I argued.

 Dad sounded sincere; “Liana as you’re an Alpha’s daughter and Bethany as a Beta’s daughter you will have other wolves wanting to falsly mate with you, once your 18 for power. So you’re not safe until you have your first shift and even mated, with your true mate.” My dad’s words where kind of worrying, people would want to kidnap me or force me to have sex with them for power…..

 I had eaten 4 out of 6 pancakes and lost my appetite. I left my plate and silently went upstairs for a shower, a long shower too. I wanted to let the worries and negative thoughts wash away. I watched the water run down into the drain. I eventually lost all train of thought, when I remembered the last time I had done this. A memory I refused to let back into my life... him, the one I thought I would be with for ever, the one who left me, the one who didn't even ring, or text or anything.

I felt my hand on the tile, pressing harder and harder until I heard it crack. Whoops.

Once I had my shower I put on some sweats and looked into my long mirror. I brushed through my long chocolate brown hair and looked around my room for my phone. I sent a quick text to Bethany:

Hi Beth, u wanna come round?
Liana x

She text me back almost straight away.

Hay girl, yup this wolf stuff is a lot 2 take in. Be at yours in 10.

I was glad that she felt the same way about this wolf stuff. Bethany was my best friend ever. We have known each other since we were born, which just happens to be on the same day except im older by 4 hours. We think of each other as sisters and have done everything together.

Me and Bethany went to the same schools, brought a lot of the same stuff, holidays together (with family, our families are super close) and talked about everything together. Bethany is really bubbly and so easy to talk to, I love her in a best friend, sisterly way.

I didn’t bother putting on much make up, it was only Bethany and we weren’t going out anywhere. I made my way downstairs and sat in the chill lounge on a bean bag squishy thing. Bethany arrived soon after. My dad let her in and they all came in to the lounge. This included Bethany’s mum and dad….. Well this can’t be good.

I stood up to greet everyone. I pulled Bethany’s hand towards the door to go up stairs, before any of our parents could say anything. But when I turned to make a run for it, my path was blocked by a huge chest.

“What the…” I stood back to observe the beast I front of me.

“Liana dear watch yourself.” My mother stopped me; she never liked anyone using any sort of bad language in the house. But what I wanted to know was who this tall, muscle guy was in my house.

Bethany’s dad began to speak on que in a calm voice, “its ok Will come in” the tall guy came in and stood behind Bethany like he was protecting her. “Everyone I would like to introduce Will, he is my cousin from Italy and is going to be staying here with me and my family until things around here settle down a bit. He has found his mate already and she will be staying with us too, so I know that there wont be any threat of him trying to take our girls. I have already spoken to Alpha John, your father Liana, about this and he has agreed that you both need a body guard.” I honestly couldn’t help but raise my eye brows.

“Protective much?” I smiled and looked at my father and then his beta, then I held out a hand to Will, but he looked at my father as if he was asking for permission to shake my hand. My dad nodded his head and then Will lightly shook my hand…. Well that was weird. I have never known anyone to ask permission before shaking my hand.

 “So if we have a body guard, does this mean we can go shopping?” I was actually hopping for a yes but my dad said “No you can’t” very bluntly. I pouted my lips and headed for the door again.

“Liana we’re not finished yet.” My father spoke with a bit of a stern voice. So with that I turned around with Bethany’s hand still in mine and sat down on the double sofa. I let go of her hand and then everyone else came in and sat down.

“Liana your body guard will arrive later on this afternoon and then we will have our pack meeting. Although you will remember this as our get together that we do on a weekly basis.” My dad once again, I began to notice the authority in his voice, it was kind of scary, like I had to obey what he was telling me; he had never told me off or shouted at me. “Your body guard is Ben, he is Will’s brother and he also has found is mate so you will be safe. Ben and his mate will be staying here in the pack house, in the guest room. Liana, Ben and Will have permission to be with you and Bethany at school as well. They will be with you most of the time, except when you're in your bathroom and with your mum and I.” Well im grateful for my on-suite. I stuck out my bottom lip and then I looked at Bethany. She had her head held low, looking at the floor, I have never seen her down like this before, she hates to have her personal space invaded, me and her both! But I understood the need to be protected, the trail of awful thoughts from earlier creeping back.

 “Ok fine, dad can me and Beth go up stairs now?” I put on my best cute smiley face.

 “Yes but there is much more we need to talk about. We can do that in a hour or two when the rest of the pack comes.” Dad just smiled and nodded towards Will and he followed us out the lounge and to my room. Thank god he stayed out side my room so that me and Bethany could have some privacy!
