So here I was staring at the field behind the canteen. It was fairly big and had big trees aligning the edge of the woods.  I was deciding whether or not to just carry on like I never got the letter. I didn’t want to go and talk to Leo, I mean who knows what might happen or what he might say. After about 5 minutes of having a mini war in my head I gave up and walked towards the edge of the woods. Me and Leo used to have a little hide out spot half way up one of the really large trees just a few metres into the woods. I followed the familiar pathway of trees until I came to a much larger one. I looked up and saw Leo casually sitting on one of the branches half way up. He had a grey long sleeved shirt on that fitted him nice and tightly, he had a pair of dark grey/black jeans on and bright green conversers. How could I forget those.

He smirked at me and waved his hand up for me to climb up to him. He had to be kidding me! I haven’t climbed a tree since he left and that was two frikin years ago!

He leaned back against the trunk of the tree and I turned on my heel to walk back to school. I was not going to embarrass myself trying to climb a huge tree.

I had only walked about a metre before I heard him jump down.

“Wait!” he shouted after me and I stopped walking.

“Can we just talk?” I shook my head. “Not if your going to play stupid games with me.” I crossed my arms and looked to my left.

He put is right index finger under my chin and softly pulled my head round to look at him. “Please.” He said it softly and calmly. Dam this boy! He could read me like a book. I was so weak when he made me look at him.

 “Ok fine but just so that you know I haven’t eaten so im only giving you 6 minutes.” I was really hungry so I wasn’t planning on staying long.

 “Where is you guard?” Leo asked me as he looked around us.

 “I told him that he could meet me at my 5th lesson because I was going to a homework catch up class.” I looked down because I hated lying and people who lied.

 “Great! Follow me.” Que cheesy grin. He grabbed my arm and started heading further into the forest.

 “Where are you taking me? I said 6 minutes you know. Im really hungry.”

 We stopped at another large tree. I couldn’t help but be amazed at how big these trees where in this forest. But this one tree was massive! I couldn’t even see it to the top and it probably take me at least 10 minutes to walk all the way around it. Ok im over exaggerating but you get what I mean.

 Leo sat down on one of the lower braches which was a meter off the ground. So i sat on it with him. It wasn’t that high so I knew I wouldn’t kill myself trying to get up there. Me and Leo sat in silence for a few minutes as I took in my surroundings. It was really pretty where we were. There were little colourful areas around the tree where there were wild flowers. When I looked up I couldn’t help but sigh at the forest sky. Mostly green with a hint of blue sky.

I was brought out of my little dream world when Leo cleared his throat ever so slightly. I looked at him and I couldn’t help but be taken back at his good looks.

“I really like you Liana.” He was looking straight at me. I was not expecting that.

I struggled for words. I must have looked like a fish; opening and closing my mouth.

“You have a mate though, it wouldn’t work out between us.” It was harsh but the truth. I was turning 18 in less then a week and I would find out who my mate was, so me and Leo wouldn’t work. I had to keep real.

He looked away from me. “I do but I don’t know who she is yet. She hasn’t shifted yet.” He was fidgeting with his fingers.

“It wouldn’t be fair on any of us if we was to….” I trailed of. I didn’t think about him like that anymore, I hadn't since I knew he was back.

“How do you feel about me?” (drum roll) and the best blunt line goes to….. LEO!

“I....I… I can’t. We both have mates and it wouldn’t be fair and what we had before was great but then you left and I hated you and then you came back and in my bedroom and now this…(deep breath) I think that we should just be friends.... for now.” I looked down at the forest floor. I jumped down and began to walk back the direction we came trying to hold back the tears. I didn’t even know why I was upset. This was just a little bit too much for me at the moment that was all. I need time to think.

Leo didn’t follow me and I didn’t hear him or see him come out of the forest. I had gone to the library after I got back. I wasn’t feeling so hungry anymore. Bethany took us all home after school and she stayed for dinner. I was quiet the whole time. I just kept replaying all of mine and Leo's conversations in my mind. Trying to work out how I felt about him really. Thinking about this werewolf stuff and the pack. All Bethany had done since we got home was talk about her and Matty not being able to be with each other. Matty was a wolf too and in our pack, he hadn’t found his mate yet either. So they both agreed to wait until Bethany had shifted to see if they were mates. You could hear the slight heart break in her voice.

So now here I was sitting in my room and listening to Bethany continue to talk about her and Matty.

“Leo told me he liked me.” You know I just blurted that out without thinking, but it shut her up. At least now she looked like a fish. Open mouth, close mouth, open mouth, close mouth…..

“Say something Bethany” this felt a bit awkward…. She was just staring at me.

So I pinched her…. “ooowwwwwwww! What did you do that for??!” she rubbed her arm like she was trying to rub off a disease.

 “You was creeping me out.” I told her truthfully.

 “But he told you how he feels! Why don’t you just hook up?” she looked like she was being serious so I decided to break it down really slowly for her.

 “I- am- shifting –this –weekend. So im going to find my mate and he will find his eventually. It won’t work.” I shrugged. I had thought about it and I was going to stick to my decision.

 “Well did you at least agree to be friends?” she had her eyebrows raised. I could see the hope gleaming out of her.

 “Well we didn’t exactly agree, I kind of just told him how it was.” The more I thought about it the more I started to feel bad about how I spoke to him. But at least now Bethany could understand my side of this too. She was going through a similar situation with herself and Matty.

 Bethany left after dinner and I retreated to my room. I collapsed on my bed and fell asleep.

 I woke up to someone whispering my name. At first I thought I was dreaming but then I felt someone putting their hands on my shoulders. I immediately sat up like a mummy and waved my arms around like I was fighting a bee. I squinted my eyes open to see a bright pink blur.

 “What time is it?” I said opening my eyes a bit more.

 “Honey it’s 3 am, you sounded like you was in pain so I came in to check on you and well look.” My mum had a shocked and worried face, wearing her bright pink gown, she pointed towards the full length mirror at the corner of my room. I scrunched my eyebrows together and rushed to get up. I walked over to my floor length mirror and I nearly fainted.
