Freaky First Day

The bus hulled it's heavy load of passengers into the car park of Westwood College, I got up from my seat and followed the line of students all getting off the bus. I looked up at the tall grey building, this was it, my first day and this time I was not going to screw it up!

On entering the building I followed the signs leading to Main Reception and walked up to the glass separating me and the receptionist, the woman through the glass looked about 20 with curly blonde hair and black glasses, she wore a blue v neck top and was holding the phone to her ear whilst frantically trying to type.

I stood in front of the glass until eventually she put the phone down and looked up at me "Can I help you?" She said looking at me up and down like she was judging my outfit, I was wearing my bright red top, black denim skirt and black leather jacket, not strikingly amazing but still! "Ummm I start today and I need my timetable." I said, she looked at her computer "Name?" She said in a drony I can't be bothered sort of voice. I was just about to answer when the phone started ringing again, without hesitation she picked it up and started speaking " Westwood College how can I help you?" I just stared at her and waited "OMG Stephanie long time no see! How is everything, are you still with that sad excuse for a boyfriend?" I couldn't believe this! How long was I going to have to stand here? "No really! You dumped him! Go girl! You can so do better! So would you want to meet up sometime?"

The receptionist continued her conversation, she was still chatting away whilst checking her freshly manicured nails, I felt so angry at this point, this woman was wasting my time, so I knocked on the glass window separating us and she looked up at me and sighed "Hey Steph hold on a mo, I've got a student here kay?!" With that she put down the phone and looked at her computer and waited...

I must of stood there for what felt like years wondering what this woman was doing. Eventually she looked up at me with a forced smile and said "I asked for your name... Remember?" Seriously! This woman had wasted half an hour of my morning and now she acts like I'm stupid! "Lauren Harper" I said. She tapped the keyboard and clicked the mouse and then said "Printer is on your left inside the room labelled Stationary."

Now that wasn't so hard now was it!

With that I started to walk away
as annoyed as this woman had made me, I had to keep calm, I was not going to mess up my first day!
I opened the door to the stationary cupboard and walked inside

On entering the room, I noticed every wall was filled with shelves containing stacks of papers and books, at the far end of the room was the printer and photocopier. As I approached the printer I saw there was a girl sitting on the floor with a book. "Hello?" I said. The girl looked at me, she had short black hair and brown eyes, I looked down at her book and realised she was drawing. "Wow awesome picture, your really talented!" I said, the girl stood up "The name's Raven, I don't recognise you are you new?
"Yeah, first day actually, and I'm late because of that annoying receptionist out there!" I said. Raven smiled and let out a little laugh "Yeah she's always annoying, so anyway, wheres your first lesson?" She asked
"Well I have just come in to grab my timetable from the printer." I said, indicating behind her. Raven turned round and grabbed my printed timetable and started to read it. "Art in room 42 next with Mr. Harris, that's the same class as me!" She said.
"That's great!" I replied. Raven looked at me for a few seconds before saying,
"You seem pretty cool, what's your name?"
"Lauren" I replied.
"Nice to meet you Lauren, now let's head to Art!" Raven handed me my timetable and I put it in my bag and followed her out of the stationary cupboard.

When I came out I could still hear the receptionist on the phone, " Steph, so lunch tomorrow yeah girl?... Great sounds good... Oh yeah I need to tell you... Remember Nancy... Yeah that's her... Yeah she's only gone and got herself engaged... I know right!..." I cant believe this receptionist still has a job! Her voice slowly trailed out as I walked towards art with Raven.
