Chapter 6

When I woke up, Kim was gone. I panicked. What if she left me?! But I heard her humming outside. The rain had stopped, and she was cooking fish that she must've caught by a stream or something. The sun was up, but it was nice and cool. I couldn't help it, but ran to her and hug her. She was all I had left.

I heard her gasp, but she hugged me back. Before I knew it, I was crying. I missed Bianca. I wanted her back. Stupid Percy. It was all his fault!! I tensed when Kim kissed my forehead, something she often did. She must've felt me get tight because she picked me up like a baby and made me look at her.

"Nico. I know you're mad, but let him go." I didn't know how she knew I was thinking about killing Percy, but I calmed down somehow.

-Kim Smith's POV-

It explained everything. Why people believed me all the time: daughter of Aphrodite, so I could charmspeak. And I loved playing with guys' feelings. Why I knew the future: daughter of Apollo. Wait...I didn't know the future; I just knew because of the books. Okay, maybe that once but why I morphed at the dance: blessed by Hecate. It all lined up perfectly. Maybe too perfectly. But I felt terrible for charmspeaking to Nico. He was so innocent and didn't deserve any of this drama.

After Nico calmed down, I grabbed a stick and stabbed it into the cooked fish. Here we were, leaving like savages. We could be at Camp, safe and-. Oh my gods. I was so selfish! How could I think like that when Nico needed me!? I sighed and passed the fish to Nico. The poor child looked like he aged two years since last night. But when he recoiled at the fish, I smiled to know that his young self was still in there...somewhere.

He took the stick, but didn't eat it. "Kim, isn't there anything else to eat?"

I sighed. "No, Nico. That was all I could find."

"I don't like fish, but...I am hungry."

"Why don't you like fish?"

"It's slimy. I don't like the skin. And getting rid of the bones is too difficult." I laughed at his cute reasoning and took the fish. "You can always get rid of the skin and the bones, y'know," I replied.

I found a big leaf and cleaned it with water from the stream I got the fish. I peeled off the skin and slit the fish in half. I picked up the tail which removed the bones. "And the head. I don't llike the head," Nico complained. I snapped the head and tossed it away, same with the skin and bones.

"Here you go, my picky eater."

He smiled and took a big bite. "Yum," he said with his chubby cheeks full. The scene was so adorable that I grabbed him in a hug and laughed. He hugged me back. I let go to let him eat his breakfast.

He stopped when he started eating the other half. "Kim, why aren't you eating?"

I smiled. "I'm not hungry." Lie. Charmspeak. I was dying and wanted to eat so-o-o-o-o-o-o much, but I couldn't catch another fish.

Nico pouted. "Eat this half."

"No, no. It's okay. You can eat it."

"NO! Eat it!"

I sighed and took the smallest bite I could manage. Nico smiled at me and finished the rest of the fish. "Tank cue!" he said with a mouthful. I smiled. "Anytime."

When he finished eating, he looked at me, confused. "What do we do now?"

I smiled. "Anything you want."

He thought on this for a while. He frowned. "I don't know. OH! I know!!" he said excitedly. "Let's go to Las Vagas! There's this really cool hotel called the Locus Hotel and Casino. That's where I learned Mytho-"
