Chapter 6: Unreal Surprises

It's this warm feeling you get when you're around someone. For some reason you get soft and feel like a shy child. Would I be wrong if I said I get that feeling around Gabriella as I did while with Hope?.

Grace and I walk up to her house. Making sure to grab the Christmas gift out of the car. Grace rings the doorbell.

When the door opens, there she is, standing in a light Red dress that fit perfectly with her every curve. The lipgloss she was wearing made her lips pop out more, she was truly gorgeous.

"Thank you for inviting us to your party". Grace greets Gabriel as soon as we approch the front door, Her house was a decent size with a white porch and gold trim aligned on the outside walls.

"No problem, come inside, It's a bit chilly outside". She moves to the side as we come into the house.

I was hit with the warmth of the hallway. I see people of all different race and size walking around, talking, laughing and drinking. Kids were seated at the table preparing for the meal.

Giving Grace a hug she reaches over to give me one as well, the hug was soft, and gentle. I could smell the scent of her sweet perfume making it's way into my nose.

She backs away after Gracie begins to clear her throat. Maybe the hug extended over the five seconds that she hugged her.

"Caleeb, could you help me inside the kitchen?". I give her a nod as Grace was swept away by a group of small girls around the ages of 6 to 8.

Stepping into the kitchen, a fresh air of mouth watering food thrills my nostrils. I smile, remembering how much I use to miss the new years with my family and how funny the gatherings would end up. Then I rememeber the time before Hope and I got together, How our family dinners or get togethers would end in a full out world war.

****FlashBack***

"Gloria, I literally just told you I was late because my stupid car wanted to break down". Hope argues as she dishes out a spoon full of carrots.

"You don't have to be such an ass about it Hope".

"Caleeb if I wanted your feedback I would more than gladly ask for it".

"She's so annoying". Amy chins in.

"Slut".

"What did you just call me?".

"Girls can we go one day without arguing over nonesense". Mr. Grey says taking a bite of his baked chicken.

"You invited her". Amy shots at him.

Hope gets up from the table and storms outside, I run after her, making sure to leave behind the asshole that was around that dinner table. When I finally caught up to her she was sitting outside rocking back and forth on the swingset that was older than the both of us combined.

"You really didn't have to follow me". She holds her head down and I could tell by the way her voice sounded, she was hurt by what Amy had said.

"You always let her get to you, She's my sister and everything but she can be very annoying and I know you know that as well". I try my best to sound confident in my words and reassuring.

"I told you how I felt already with my dad having a second family and it's like she keeps throwing it in my face that I don't belong here, as if I really don't fit with you guys, I'm starting to feel so myself". She explains with a light sigh.

"Come here". I stand up and hold out my hand for her to take it. She looks up and takes my hand.

I walk her over to where we use to take measurements of our heights as kids. She puts on a small smile.
