"phil!" i shook him to wake him up,
"wh-what's going on what are you doing?"
he asked groggily,
"we have to find pj."
he looked at me, "are you crazy?! pj tried to kill you!"
"pj's eyes aren't brown they're green! they have been since the first day we met phil i remember them i-"
"dan.. i know pjs eyes are green."
"exactly so that's why we have to-"
"dan.. his eyes have always been green, they were green when you were kids, and they were green when he got arrested, your minds trying to play tricks on you that, that wasn't really him.. but it was dan.. and i'm sorry"
i sat down. i was being delusional.
what was i thinking? there was just some guy who looks like pj and talks like pj with brown eyes who tried to kill me..?
the chances of that were one out of a million.
my best friend tried to kill me and i had to accept that.
no matter how hard it was to understand.

a couple days later i sat drinking coffee, phil came up behind me,
"good morning." i said emotionless.
"you know it's the fourth morning in a row i've woken up to an empty bed, are you okay dan?"
"fine." i said, taking a sip of my coffee.
"i'm just tired."
phil scoffed, "you're so tired that you can't sleep? yeah that's likely. if you keep lying like this you're not gonna get-"
"i said i was tired. i didn't specify what i was tired of, maybe im tired of my life being pulled out from under me, maybe i'm tired of the constant criticism by you, maybe im tired of not having a mom or dad, maybe i'm tired of the pitiful eyes i get everywhere i go. maybe i'm tired of all the news press and the calls to the station, maybe im tired of you saying you understand me and you care but when i need you, you think everything is a joke, or you don't believe anything i say, maybe im tired of feeling so helpless, maybe i'm tired of everything phil!"
phil took a sip of coffee and put on his jacket.
he got his phone and looked me in the eye,
"well maybe i'm tired of you."

i just broke like everyone's hearts.
anyway, i'm thinking of making two books, one is where dan is a prince kidnapped and raised poorly and phil tries to make people believe dans really the prince,
and the other is where dan is a pianist on the titanic who falls in love with phil.
