{Get ready for an Arno imagine! I don't see why people hate AC: Unity, despite the bugs, Arno is my little French Fry I love him. Also this whole imagine is written in his POV too.}

summary: looking back on memories of an old friend, Arno blames himself for something that couldn't be stopped.

Two years ago today {Y/N} lost her life. When she was still alive {Y/N} was only a naïve young woman. Two years ago she was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I promised that I wouldn't let anything or anyone hurt her. But I didn't get there in time. I could still hear her screams.

When I first met {Y/N} I saved her from some gaurds that had caught her stealing, at first I wasn't going to interfere and leave her with the guards. I will never regret my decision.

"We've got you surrounded Thief!"

As I sat on top of one of the many rooftops in Paris my ears seemed to perk up from sound of guards below. I had just escaped from a squad of them after another assassination, at least they were not after me this time.

Below in an alleyway I saw at least three guards, they had surrounded a cloaked figure. After I took a longer look a woman wore the black cloak that covered her body.

"I didn't steal nothing, you can't prove anything!" The woman spat at the guards.

She glared at the guards, fire in her {e/c} orbs like she was ready to pounce and start fighting them all . She was only a thief and whether she stole anything or not it wasn't my business. However I couldn't help but be drawn to the {h/c} haired woman. I sighed a little to myself and drew my hidden blade.

"Alright, you're coming with us scum!"

One of the guards sneered at her, his sword was drawn in case she retaliated. This was my cue.

With my hidden blade drawn I jumped down from the roof and landed on top of the guard, who was about to grab the thief, then quickly plunged my weapon into the side of his neck. As I stood up I glanced at the woman in front of me from under my hood, her eyes had widened and had a shocked expression on her face. I smirked at her but wasted no time in spinning around with my sword drawn ready to attack the other guards.

"Holy shit!"

After taking out the last two I turned back to the her after she cried out in surprise. She glanced from the dead bodies back to me, then back to the bodies and so on.

"I think a thank you is in order." I said to her.

"What? Oh yeah, thanks mysterious stranger."

After pushing a few locks of her hair out of her face, she grinned at me. This time my eyes widened as I got a better look at her face. She was beautiful! Now I'm definitely glad that I decided to save her.

"So what did you steal from them to get them so mad?" I asked her.

"I didn't steal nothing." She shrugged her shoulders.

I just crossed my arms and stared down at her, she squirmed under my gaze.

"Ok! God you're menacing, I only stole a few coins and this random piece of paper."

I watched as she took out a folded, crumbled up piece of paper, she raised it up slightly to inspect it. I stood in shock after seeing the Templars Red Emblem on one of the sides of the paper. After seeing it I snatched it from her.

"Hey that's my paper!" She protested.

"Do you know what this is?" I asked her, referring to the emblem.
