It was around eleven o'clock in the morning when we finally got out of bed. We decided to put the wedding outfits back on for the fun of it. Sasha made us both blueberry pancakes, mine was in the shape of a heart struck by two bones, Azure's was in the shape of a skull struck by two hearted arrows.
"How do you get them into these shapes?" I asked Sasha as I took my first bite.
"A squeezy bottle and some food coloring always helps on special occasions," Sasha said as she gave the others the mistake pancakes.
"Delicious," Azure said as she put her empty plate down.
"Yeah they're really good," I said as I started on the second half of mine.
We talked all morning. At noon we packed up and headed out to the open road. At one point Sasha jumped into the road to stop a large eighteen wheeler. We put the driver in the back with the cargo. Azure sat in the passenger seat with me. Arin drove us to a nearby gas station. We waited until someone else showed up. Caroline distracted them and Sasha stole their phone. Azure managed to make her way into the phone and changed the password so we didn't need to go through the long process again. We used their GPS to get around to the next city and dropped off the truck driver. We took a few drinks and snacks. It took about a week but we passed by Blue River Academy. I knew exactly where we were. We parked the truck and headed off in our own direction. I looked around the gates of the academy. No one was inside, then again it was around five o'clock in the morning. I walked down the same road I used to take home everyday, Azure followed me.
"I can't believe I remember this still," I said as I looked around.
"You were fifteen then," Azure said, "Two inches shorter, And a nervous wreck."
"I wasn't that bad," I pointed out.
"Yeah you were worse," Azure started running.
I chased her. We climbed onto the rooves of houses. We jumped down onto a car at some point and set off the alarm. I recognized the car, it was a small, blue, compact car.
"Azure check this out," I called her over, "It looks like my Dad's old car. You don't think he still has the same old car do you?"
"Probably," She said and point to the house behind the car, "Wanna go inside? It'll be neat to scare them."
"Yeah," I walked up the steps to the front door, "Why don't we go the aerial rout?"
"Sounds nice," Azure was already climbing up wall to the roof.
We went down and in through my old window. To my surprise a girl was in my bed. It took me a bit to realize it was Kat, who had grown her hair out to her mid back. I walked out to the living room. My Dad was asleep on the couch with a phone on the coffee table. The TV was on the news channel. I walked over to him and stared at his face. He had a few more gray hairs and a five o'clock shadow. There were bags under his eyes. I ran my hand along the side of his face.
"He's completely out," I laughed.
"Why not cook something for us," Azure said, "I miss your cooking."
I looked in the fridge, which was fairly empty. The freezer had lots of rice stacked around and a salmon. By seven o'clock an alarm went off and woke up my dad. The salmon had also just finished cooling as well. My dad got up and took one look at me. He looked pale and terrified.
"Something wrong Dad?" I said as I put the salmon down on the table, "You look like you've seen a ghost."
"Y-yo-you-'re h-here," he stuttered, "Y-you're a-alive."
"Never died," I said.
He ran up to me and hugged me. I could have sworn I heard him crying. He wiped his face and looked me up and down.
"We'll buy you some proper clothes in a little bit," He said, "I'm a, goin to wake up your sister. No school today."
"Let's not do the clothes thing," I yelled as she went to get Kat.
"So how long do we stay for?" Azure pinned me to the wall, "I want the special moment with you in the cave to be soon."
"I say we let them cry and then we say goodbye," I said to Azure, "Then we can mark this area as our territory and go."
"Sounds just perfect," Azure said, and began to kiss me.
Kat ran up and hugged me. Her head reached my shoulders now. I patted the top of her head.
"Where have you been," Kat said, "Students said some lady took you."
"They're not wrong there," Azure pointed out, "Come on Noah let's go."
"Go?" Kat asked, "Go where? You just got here."
"We have plans," I said, "This was a quick visit."
"What plans? Maybe we could join you?" Dad said, "It's been three years Noah. You're just going to ditch your family?"
"I have my family with me wherever I go now," I said, "We have a few things to take care of before we leave."
"What are you talking about? Take care of things?" Dad was so confused, "I think it's time you stayed with me and away from these people."
"These people are my friends," I pulled out my shield and Azure got her Blood Slicer, "The this woman right here is my wife and lover. The name's Noah, Atlas-Joy."
We left right there and had a change of plans. We went to Blue River Academy and made a special visit to Mr, Swon. We left him a present while we were at it. A pinned grenade for him to use anytime he wanted on the people he hated. The principle got a few rotten eggs hidden in his office. That was payback for allowing the white coats into the school. Next was Azure's father for locking us up. Azure called in the other for this one. Sasha loaded her long range gun and a few explosives. Caroline stuck with a sword and pistol. Arin stuck with daggers and a pistol. Azure had her blood slicer, and I had my shield and blade. Azure packed a few daggers in her pockets just incase. We both changed into our usual out fits which we packed and headed to her father's place.
