~Theo's POV~

By the time I got back home it was almost 10, If I was caught out this late, I'd be dead. Miraculously I got back to my room without waking anyone up, but I was dead tired. As soon as my head hit the pillow I was asleep.

NOCK NOCK NOCK! I woke up suddenly to someone knocking on my door. "Who is it?" I asked sleepily "Jay," said the voice from behind the door. It's my alpha. I better get this. I rolled over to get out of my bed and check the time. It was 1:30. Shit. I was supposed to be up by 12.

I walked over and opened my door to let my Alpha in, prepared to apologize. Before I could say a thing he came into my room and pulled my chair from my desk, told me to sit and then he sat on my bed.

"first of all," he said, "how late were you up partying with that girl to sleep in this late?"

"I'm sorry, I lost track of time. Am I in trouble?" I asked.

"I'm gonna have to think about that. But I'm here for a reason other than to wake you up," he said.

"What's that?"

"Do you know what today is?" He asked.

"No, why?" I responded.

"Today is the day that your 6 months from turning 18," he stated.

"What's that got to do with anything?" I asked.

"Because, Theo, today is when you start your second apprenticeship. Today is the day you start training to become an alpha." My jaw dropped and my eyes widened at the words.

"Don't you have to be related to your family line to be an alpha?" I asked.

"Theo, your mom died when she was very young, when I was very young, when you were only three. The thing about alphas is sometimes they're rushed to find a mate before they're put in charge of the pack, then they much have a kid to keep their alpha lines going. I was eighteen when you were born, still not sure what I was doing. I was almost twenty-one when your mother died, I was devastated, depressed. It wasn't until two years later when I snapped out of it and a father instinct actually kicked in, but by that point, it was too late, you believed your mom and dad died together. I know I should have told you sooner but I didn't want you to be mad at me."

I just looked at him. That's all I could do. My voice wouldn't work. "Theo, I know this is a lot. I'm sorry. You can have the night off. If you need anything, I'll be outside supervising," and just like that, he was gone.

After a few minutes of sitting there, I went onto my computer and messaged Heather, the only person outside of the pack I could trust. And somehow she was awake, at two in the morning, checking my message.

'Meet me at the park 2 blocks from your place in 20. I need someone.'
