My brother is funny-looking when he yells. He has this vein in his forehead that pops out. So when he was screaming at me for kissing Alex, I just focused on the vein.

"I tell you to stay away from this guy, and I find you making out with him at 10 in the morning! What the hell were you doing all night?" He screamed, his face reddening.

"I was holding Brooke's hair back while she vomited uncontrollably." I said, in a mocking voice.

"What were you doing with that asshole?"

"He stayed because he didn't want me to be alone. Brendan, I'm not some sort of a slut. I was staying over to make sure that Brooke didn't choke on her own puke, and Alex didn't want me to be alone. Nothing. Happened."

"Fine. I don't care what you do. Come home when you're ready to act mature about this."

"I am acting mature. I'm 16 damn years old, Brendan! I can kiss who I want." I yelled as my brother walked out the door.

I spent the rest of the day at Brooke's, watching TV with her and Alex, and swimming in her pool. That's one thing I will never understand about my neighborhood. We live a 3 minute walk from the beach, yet our parents spend thousands of dollars a year taking care of luxury pools in our backyards. One thing about our parents, especially Brooke's, is that they love to waste money. They have enough of it, so why not spend it on useless items? Logic.

"Brooke, can we go downtown tonight? The tourists will be coming in soon, I love to watch them and laugh." I said, resting my arms on the side of the pool.

"I'll never understand why you like to do that. But sure, since you went to the party last night." Brooke said.

"Mind if I tag along?" Alex asked.

"Well, I think Brendan and Nathan will want to come..." I said, hesitating.

"Of course you can come!" Brooke exclaimed, completely oblivious to the situation.

"I guess that's fine." I said, with a fake smile plastered on my face.

"Sweet. I'll go home and shower." Alex said, lifting himself off of the lounge chair.

A few hours later, when we went downtown, the streets were already flooded with the summer crowd. The smell of Saltwater Taffy and fried dough traveled through the air. The screams of small children at the amusement park could be heard from miles away. The amusement park, also known as "The Wild Zoo Kingdom" is a staple around York Beach. On one side, there is a zoo filled with completely uninteresting animals, such as deer and rabbits. The only interesting animal there is Lydia the elephant, which we always say "walks in the same circel for its entire life." The other side is where the real fun is. The rides look pretty crappy, and I'll be the first to admit that they are not in the best shape. Everything in that park is in desperate need of an upgrade. But the rides are more fun than any other amusement park, anywhere. The ferris wheel is at the very front of the park, and when you're stuck at the top, you can see the whole town. Behind the ferris wheel is the merry-go-round, which is always flooded with little kids screaming and throwing ice cream at each other. Needless to say, the merry-go-round is not my favorite ride in the park. Then there's the bumper cars. Bumper cars are fun no matter what your age. I especially like ramming into my best friends, and watching the spectators laugh at them. Behind the bumper cars is the best ride in the park. The Scrambler. Basically, you get in a little car that fits about 3 people, and you get whipped around forwards and backwards and left and right. As much as I love the ride, it is not for people with weak stomachs. I remember when we were 7 years old and Brendan threw up in my lap. I don't let him sit with me anymore.
