"Darling? Are you even listening?!" He asked impatiently. "Huh? Oh sorry Grell-senpai... I've been busy..." you said looking down. He stopped and gave you a worried stare, he knew something was off.

"Darling...?"

You looked up, you didn't want to tell him what was really wrong with you.

The truth is...

You were dying.

You had contracted the thorns of death, from a victim's cinematic record. You never told anyone about what happened, you were terrified of what the consequences would be. "is everything okay? you seem so distant now... And well... I'm worried.." You looked at him, "Grell, please don't worry it's just--" you broke out into a coughing fit. This only added to Grell's concerned feelings.

You felt a cold hand lightly touch your face. "Darling you're burning up! Come on, we must take you home!"

"Senpai I'm-"

"We'll get you some water, and-"

You suddenly felt woozy and felt the world get blurry as you fell to the ground.

You awoke to a white room, you were on a cot. You reached for your coat and carried it out of the room to see all your co workers standing there. They all had worried faces that were plastered onto their faces. Grell had red eyes and wet cheeks from crying. Will was the first to speak, "why didn't you tell us that... You were dying?" You took a deep breath, "I... Didn't want anyone to treat me like... I was useless, I wanted to be a grim reaper and die a grim reaper." you said a bit more boldly. Grell resisted the urge to hug the life out of your fragile body. Ronald went second, "I uh... Know we aren't close really but... You're really awesome for being able to put up with both Sutcliff and well... your disease, and that's a role model in my book." he said, you smiled, you've never seen your co workers act like this. It was sweet, knowing that they cared for you in such a way.

---2 weeks later---

Grell came back to work, going straight to Will's office. You couldn't see what they were saying but Will seemed shocked and Knox... shockingly enough was on the verge of tears. Grell waved bye and left the room picking you up and taking you outside the building, "Grell, what in the-".

You were cut off when you took a closer look at his neck...

Thorn pricks and scars.

You were in shock. These were... symptoms of the dreaded thorns of death that you had succumbed to.

Grell took your hand and brought you closer to his chest. "I've loved you for quite a while... And... I know that you won't be... suffering anymore soon... and... I didn't want you to... go alone."

"Senpai--" you were about to finish before he gently kissed you. You kisses back gratefully. He looked into your eyes, his green eyes full of hope and tears.

"We can lose our minds together." he said carrying you like a princess.
