SCENE 4:

7:00 PM

NEW YORK

Sgt. Maximillian Anderson was staring at the eyes full of hate of an Afghanistan rebel lying badly wounded on the ground.  Both legs of the rebel were bloodied and maimed because of the gunshots they sustained during the US troop raid of the Alfghanistan rebels camp deep in the mountain range.

The rebel’s head lay down on the lap of an Alfghanistan woman who had likewise incurred a gunshot on her left shoulder…blood oozing from it.

All around them were rubbles and dead bodies of Alfghanistan rebels.

Sgt. Max Anderson thought to himself…

“The rebel would not make it before nightfall.  He will die because of blood loss.  As for the woman…well, we can’t do anything about her.  We will just have to leave her here.  The best that can happen to her is for someone from her own people to find her which I doubt will happen.  And the worst that can happen to her is for her to die because of starvation and dehydration before somebody finds her.  In any case there is no sense in killing her.”

“Mehrabai  wakrey ya wazhem muzz!(Please do not kill us!)…Mehrabai ya  welem !(Please do not shoot!)…Wadrega !(Stop!)…Mehrabai!”

Sgt. Anderson heard the Afghanistan women sobbingly pleading that made him return to the present situation and away from his musings.

“Sgt. Anderson, we need to finish the job.  Let me shoot them both and then let us leave.  Our troop is heading down the trail going back to our camp site.”  This came from the soldier who was with Sgt. Anderson.

Sgt. Anderson:  “There’s no need for that Soldier Spike.  Yes, we will leave now but you don’t have to kill them.  The man will not last long before nightfall while the woman…well she just have to pray that somebody finds her.”

Afghanistan rebel:          “Cha dwzkkh th wlar! (Go to hell!)  You bastards!  You think you won.  We’ll see about that!”

The Afghanistan rebel shouted while he tried to spit at the 2 American soldiers…blood instead of spit coming out from his mouth.

Spike:                   “See…Sgt.  They don’t need mercy.  They think what they are doing is helping their country and countrymen.  They are not repentant of the damages they inflict to others, even to their own people. They deserve what they get.  Let me shoot them and off we go, man!”

Soldier Spike said while aiming his firearm to both Afghanistan man and woman.

Afghanistan woman:  “Mehrabai wakrey! (Please!)  The Afghanistan woman continued begging.

Sgt. Anderson:  “Let’s go Spike!  You are right.  Our troop is heading down back to our camp site.  Soon it will be dark.  Let us just leave them.”

Sgt. Anderson turned his back to follow the other fellow American soldiers down the trail.  However, he had just taken three steps when suddenly he heard…

“Rat-tat-tat-tat…” from a gun being fired behind him.

Sgt. Anderson turned around and saw the bloody dead bodies of the Afghanistan man and woman lying on the ground.

Sgt. Anderson:  “Damn you!  Why did you shoot them?  I told you to leave them.  They would have died on their own anyway.”  Sgt. Anderson shouted while grabbing the gun from Spike and shoving Spike on the ground.

Spike:                   “Damn you too man!  I was trying to save both of us.  You thought she was harmless because she is a woman. No damn you!  She was going to shoot us.  Look at her.  She has a pistol on her hand.  She got it from inside her robe.  Had I not stayed a little bit longer she would have killed us.”
