CHAPTER 17: THE COMEBACK

Scene 31:

1:45 P.M.

BACK TO THE CITY

Max never mentioned to Asher about the saxophone and Asher dared not to ask about it.

The travel back to the city was long, tedious and tiring.  Mostly it was spent in comfortable silence, each to his or her own thoughts.

Max dropped off Asher at the mansion and immediately left after securing that Doreen was there waiting for Asher.  Max informed Asher that he would come back tomorrow to pick her up and bring her to her appointments.

Doreen:               “Welcome back Ash!  Kumusta ang bakasyon ninyo ni Max?  Nag-enjoy ba kayong dalawa sa quality time that you spent together?  Blooming ka my friend.”

Doreen jokingly interrogated Asher and at the same time giving Asher a welcome embrace.

Asher felt herself blushed but pretended not to give any meaning to Doreen’s remarks.

Asher:                   “Anong pinagsasabi mong blooming.  Ikaw talaga Doreen puro ka biro.  To answer your question.  Yes nag-enjoy din kahit papaano.  Pero mostly training ang ginawa naming dalawa.  Ano na ang latest news Doreen?  Kumusta ang reaction ng public and media sa press release about my engagement to  Max?  Maganda ba ang pag-tanggap ng tao dito?”

Asher tensely asked Doreen.  Asher wanted to learn how her fans and the public in general received the news.

Doreen:               “Ano pa ba ang dapat mong i-expect Asher?  Of course very happy ang mga fans mo dahil my lovelife ka na raw.  Pero siyempre hindi mo rin maiiwasan ang mga negative write ups tungkol dito.  But in general, positive naman ang pagtanggap ng publiko.  Talk of the town pa rin ang engagement mo hanggang ngayon.  Hinihintay na nga nila ang pagbabalik mo from your supposedly romantic vacation with your fiancée.  By the way, bago ko makalimutan.  May guesting ka sa The Buzz next Sunday.  Nag-yes na si Tito Miguel.  Alam mo naman ang The Buzz, hindi magpapahuli maka-scoop.”

Asher:                   “Ano!?  The Buzz next Sunday?  Doreen, bakit pumayag si Tito Miguel without consulting me?  Alam na ba ito ni Max?”

Doreen:               “Uy!   Concern siya sa opinion ni Max…he…he…he…he.  Kidding aside, yes alam ni Max ang guesting mo na ito sa The Buzz.  Tito Miguel informed me that they talked about it on the phone habang nasa beach house kayong dalawa ni Max.  Siguro mas dapat na tanungin mo dito eh ‘yung dalawa, si Max and si Tito Miguel.”

Asher:                   “Talaga.  Tatanungin ko si Max tomorrow about this.  Nasaan na nga pala sina Tito Miguel and Yaya Anita.  Ikaw lang ba ang nandito ngayon sa mansion?  Halika punta tayo sa room ko para ma-update mo na rin ako sa mga commitments and schedules ko.”

Doreen:               “Nasa meeting si Tito Miguel.  Si Yaya Anita at Mang Caloy naman ay nag-grocery shopping.  Sabi kasi ni Yaya Anita siguro daw ay namayat ka dahil baka hindi ka nakakain ng mabuti sa beach house kasi hindi ka raw naman marunong magluto at marahil gayon din daw si Max.  Alam mo naman si Yaya Anita.  Spoiled ka sa kanya.  Ipagluluto ka raw niya ng mga paborito mong ulam.”

Asher:                   “Ganoon ba.  Let’s go na sa room ko and kuwentuhan mo ako ng mga happenings dito and sa showbiz industry.  Ano na ang latest news sa showbiz aside of course sa engagement kuno ko.”
