"Lorin Banhardt." My head shot up.

"Yes?" I carefully replied. My teacher scowled at me.

"Wake up! There will be absolutely no daydreaming in my class this semester!" Our teachers name is Ms. Hearns, the most strict teacher in our school! It's the start of the second semester of ninth grade and she's our homeroom, this semester is going to be the worst one of all.

"Sorry Ms. Hearns. It won't happen again." I looked at my hands that were placed on my desk, a strand of my long brown hair falling in front of my eyes.

"Anyway," Ms. Hearns carried on with the lesson.

By the time the bell rang, I thought I was gonna die of boredom. I got to my locker and started grabbing stuff for my next class when two girls beside me caught my attention. "Jacob looks amazing! He got a new hairdo!" Jacob, my crush, was walking down the hall with the rest of his jock friends. The only thing is, I've only talked to Jacob once. The conversation consisted of

"Oops, sorry!" when we bumped into each other in the hall.

The bell rang, cutting short my thoughts. I quickly grabbed the rest of my stuff and walked to class.

So you probably think I'm too young to know what love is, but I think I love Jacob. I mean, love is that feeling you get when that person walks by, or talks to you. But is there more to it then that? I'm really not sure... Okay so maybe I don't know what love is- "Ms. Banhardt?" I gave my teacher a confused look. "The answer?"

"I'm sorry Mr. Baley but, what was the question?" I bit my lip as everyone chuckled to themselves. I look down at my hands to hide my embarrassment.

When the bell rang, I gathered my stuff and got out as soon as I could. The next class went by fast and it was now lunch.

"Lor! Hey!? Lorin!" I heard a familiar voice behind me. My best friend, Spencer. We have been friends since forever! Mine and her parents have been friends since before we were born, so we grew up together.

"Spence!" As she ran up to me we did a little girl hug. Don't ask, it's our thing.

"So did you see Jacobs hair!?" She squealed.

"Uh, yeah! Talk about dreamy!" I gush, thinking of this morning in the hallway.

"You know, you ought to talk to him sometime. All the girls want him." She tells me. I sigh. It's true. Almost every girl is crazy about him. I can see why. I'm not even that shy of a person! I just get so nervous around him. "Oh my- Lor he's coming this way." I look behind me and, sure enough, he was headed our way. I smoothed out my long hair. I flashed a smile his way, but he wasn't looking. His eyes were fixed on something else. I turn back around and see a group of girls standing there.

"I knew it was too good to be true. It's like I'm invisible." I let out my thoughts.

The girls greet him and he walks over to one of them, their lips connecting. I cringe. He would never want someone like me. I'm not a cheerleader or that pretty. I'm average.

Spencer and I sit on the grass and take out our lunch we brought, eating it in a comfortable silence.

Later that day when I got home, I received a text from Spencer saying something about a party. I don't know if I should go. I mean, do I fit in?

This was a filler chapter just to get to know some of the characters but I PROMISE it will be better.

Btw, yes, I know I'm being totally cliché with the party thing but I think they're fun to read!
