So here I am. Getting ready for a party that I'm not even sure I want to go to. But Spencer insisted. Obviously Jacob would be there, so maybe tonight's my lucky night. I really hope so.

Since it was a bonfire party on the beach, I decided to wear high-waisted, aztec shorts, a muscle tee that says "California" on it, and a cream knit cardigan. My hair was in long beachy waves and I have eyeliner and mascara on. When I was done getting ready, it was time to go. I slipped on some white Toms and slid my phone into my pocket.

Spence and I decided to meet there. I started walking to the beach, which is only a couple blocks away. I could hear laughter and music and got really excited but nervous at the same time. I honestly love parties like this. But I never really fit in.

When I got there, Spence was no where to be seen. But I found Nathan. Nathan is one of my close friends. Not as close as Spencer, but really close. I tapped his shoulder and he turned around. "Hey, Nathan!" I said cheerfully.

"Lorin! Hey!" He hugged me, I could clearly smell alcohol.

"Have you seen Spence?"

"Not lately.." He half slurred. "I seen her about a half hour ago."

"Do you know where she went?" I said, acting like he was dumb.

"No. I don't." I heard someone call Nathan's name and he turned and walked away.

I look around, trying to find Spencer. When my eyes catch on her dark brown hair, I head towards her. "Spencer?" I turn her around.

"Lorin! I was just looking for you!" She said over-joyed. Yeah, she was looking so very hard. "Jacob's here! He's right over there!" She said pointing towards the fire. Sure enough, there stood Jacob and a couple of his friends.

"Should I go?" I ask her nervously. A thousand thoughts are going through my head right now. Maybe I should, maybe I shouldn't. What if they laugh? What if he doesn't like me back?

"No need." Spencer says smoothly. "He's coming to you." I look back and he looked directly at me as he walked over to me. As soon as he approached me, I got super nervous.

"Hey, Lorin right?" He spoke to me. My hands are shaking, it isn't noticeable but it proves how nervous I am.

"Yeah. Jacob?" I say. Trying to sound somewhat cool. Not succeeding. Well, I tried. He chuckles a little and speaks again,

"Yep. I was wondering if you wanted to hang with us tonight." This is all so random. Like, he just comes up to me and asks me to hang with him?

"Sure. Can my friend tag along?" I ask him, gesturing toward Spencer.

"Yeah sure.." He smiles at her. The thing is that I've noticed about Jacob, is that he's a lot nicer than all the other populars and jocks. From what I've heard, he's actually a really sweet guy.

He leads us over to the bonfire and we sit around it, Jacob and I are sitting close which gives me the opportunity to talk to him. "So, I don't know much about you, except that you're like the most popular guy in school." We both chuckle.

"Well.. I don't know much about you other than you're seriously gorgeous." He says, smiling a little. I blush.

"Well thanks." I giggle nervously. "So, let's get to know each other than. Let's ask each other simple questions." I smile and he returns it.

"Okay. Favorite song?" He asks.

"Classic. Yours?" I reply.

"Mine too." He chuckles. "Pretty lame, huh?"

"Are you calling me lame?" I laugh and he joins in. Our conversation went on like that basically all night. Until a couple hours later, the girl I saw him kissing at school walks up to us and pours her drink on my head.

"Janie!? What the hell!?" Jacob yells at, who I'm assuming is Janie. She smirks at me.

"Back off my boyfriend!" She slurs. Now I'm the one smirking. Jacob pulls her to the side and I can hear them arguing. By now, I was not in my seated position. Drenched in whatever Janie was drinking, I begin to walk home.

"Wait! Lorin!" Someone grabs my wrist and turns me around. Jacob looks at me, "I don't have your number." I smile and he gives me his phone and I put my name and number in. "I guess I'll talk to you later then. Goodnight, Lorin." He flashes a smile and I begin to walk home.

Once I get home, I get ready to sleep, doing my usual nightly routine. I slip into bed and check my phone one last time. A message from Jacob.
