Tricks and Triggers

I woke up the next morning and fixed me some cereal turning on the tv, "two young girls, Paris and Kharis Stone have been shot late last night. They were reportedly walking to the store when a car pulled up on them and fired on them." I turned off the tv and put now my cereal down thinking about what I heard, then I jumped up took a shower got dressed and texted Chris.
"I'm coming to pick you up right now be ready." I sent the text grabbed my mom car keys and drove to Chris house. I blew the horn 3 times rushing him to come out, he got in the car and fastened his seatbelt. "What's up? I got your text." He asked nervously.
"Paris and Kharis in the hospital, they got shot." I said bawling my eyes out crying.

"They will be ok, just drive." Chris said trying to calm me down. "I texted her dad they at St. John's." I nodded wiping my face, I started driving. We stayed slient until we got to the hospital we both ran in and stopped at the counter. "Paris and Kharis Stone." I said eager to go and see them.
"Sign your names right here please." The woman at the desk said. We both signed our names while she told us what room they were in.

We ran to their room. "Oh my heavens are y'all okay?" I asked scared.
"Yes we are fine." Paris said breathing heavily. "Why would you care?" Kharis asked in a rude manner. "I care about y'all and it just hurt me cuz y'all was saying negative things about Montey, which I found out were not true." I said.
"See there you go talking bout him." Chris said walking over to Paris, he stroked her cheek. "I'm going to call Teo." Paris tried to nod but ended up just laying her head back down. Chris walked out the room.
"What we were saying wasn't a lie, he just lied to you but that doesnt matter." I noticed Kharis's eyes were red and puffy, like she'd been crying for hours. I saw where they got shot at, Kharis got shot in the arm and Paris in the chest.
"Do y'all know who did this to you?" I asked.
"Yes." Paris said weakly.
"Who?" I asked wanting her to push for the answer.
Paris passed out before she could speak. Kharis started screaming for doctors to come. Nurses came filling the room and kicked me out.

Everything happened so fast.

I stared at the door as Chris and Teo ran up to me.
"What happened is Paris ok?" Teo asked on the edge of crying.
"s-she passed out." I said with tears coming down. Chris moved me out the way as he looked through the window, I looked with him as nurses covered up Paris and Kharis was screaming as the one nurse that was trying to calm her down. I looked over to Teo who was on the floor with tears running down his face. "You really love her dont you?" I asked comforting him. Teo looked at me and nodded. "I love her with all my heart and if she dies I
d-don't know what I'll do," he cried more.

"It's gonna get better, I promise you." I said giving him a hug.
The nurses said that they should be left alone for a while, and we should come back tomorrow. Chris left with Teo, and I drove up to the library to print this collage I've been making for Montey and I.

I was in my own world while adding final touch ups when Sophie came up to me and snapped me out of it.
"Hey Mianna right?"
I rolled my eyes, "its Kianna."
"Oh well your man hasn't been so loyal has he?" She asked with a smirk.
"He very well has been loyal, what are you talking about?" I asked in confusion.
She got out her phone and showed me a video that made my heart break, my eyes teared up. She gave me a pat on the shoulder and left, I took the picture I made and tore it up.

I was so angry I left the library right away. I drove to Montey's place like a total maniac, I banged on the door. An older woman who looked as if she was in her Forty's opened the door.
"May I help you?" She asked politely.
"Yes is Montey Rays home?" I asked.
"He's a little busy, he has company so why don't you come back another time." She said shutting the door.

I saw two females, one who had a stroller. It looked as if they were coming up to Montey's place too. I was so angry I couldn't control what I said, "you bitch!" I said directed to the baby momma.
"Excuse me what the hell you just say?" She asked passing the stroller to her friend.
"You heard me hoe." I said looking her dead in the eye.
She pushed me to the ground and started punching me, I felt defeated. I couldn't even fight back that's how hopeless I was feeling.

After she was done she spat on me and grabbed her baby from her friend walking away. I got up everything was sour, I slowly walked back to the car and slowly drived away. When I got home Keke kept asking me questions but I ignored her and went to the bathroom. I took me a nice hot bath soaking away the pain.
I kept thinking, I did the most for him and he play me like that. I lost most of the people I loved and cared about and this what happen? I kept replaying that question in my head.

30 minutes later I put on some pajama shorts and top. I cleaned up the rest of the house for 2 hours listening to sad music to ease my pain. Paris and them was right Montey is a bad person, but what's so dangerous about him? I thought to myself.

I went to sleep but really I couldn't sleep. I was up at 3 o'clock eating ice cream and crying once 8 hit Chris texted me, "want to go to the hospital with me and Teo?" I texted back, "yea" and went to go get ready. An hour later they came and we all went to the hospital.

At the hospital I mentioned to everyone what happened. "I'm so sorry." Chris said wrapping his arm around me. I laid my head on his shoulder. "I'm sorry to say but we told you so, why the hell would you think we would lie to you?" Kharis asked.
"I don't know I guess I was in denial, I was looking for something else but the truth." I said looking down. Chris held my chin up so I was facing him. "Look at me, you a beautiful girl and what ever dude don't appreciate that he not worth it." He said hugging me.

I looked over at Paris who was knocked out and a sad Teo, I was talkin about my problems and forgot they all had they own. I even forgot about paris, I walked over to them Teo was rubbing Paris cheek as she slept. It was like it all was my fault, maybe if I just listened to what they all said nun of this would have happened. I looked at Paris and wished she would get better. I started crying wishing nun of this would have happened.

I ran out into the parking lot and just sat in the car crying. Chris ran after me and got in the car. "It's okay Kianna I'm here for you." He said grabbing my hand. "Talk to me." He said almost tearing up himself. "If i wouldnt have said nothing P-Paris wouldnt of had to t-talk and she would be alright it was m-my fault!" Chris hugged me as I cried in his chest I hear him sniff a couple of times and felt my hair get wet. I pulled away and looked at him we both stared in eachother eyes then we kissed, I pulled him closer with my hands around his neck as he had his hand on the back on my neck pulling me closer.

I broke the kiss asking him to take me home, I wiped away my tears and stared out the window. Once we arrived at my house Chris opened the door for me and we walked inside. "You know ever since I got here shits been hard. Once I walked on this porch demands was thrown. Nobody welcomed me, my own damn mom said she can't afford to care for me. She had to think on even letting me stay here and now even more bullshit is thrown my way. Maybe I should just go back to Trinidad." I said sitting on the couch.
Chris sat down beside me, "don't think that everyone has their times, you will get out of this mess. You have a lot of people who care about you, they may not show it then and there but it's in their hearts." I hugged Chris as I rested my head on his shoulder, his phone rang so we broke away from the hug and he answered it. "Hello?" He answered.
"I could hear crying from the other side.
"w-what? Chris asked looking at me. Then I hear someone yell, "WHERE ARE YOU?" Chris stood up and grabbed my arm with him.
"I'm on my way." We got back in the car he put his head on the steering wheel as the call ended.
"What happened Chris?" He started up the car and sniffed. "Teo said Paris heart rate went down we're going back to the hospital."
