Dee spoke calmly and clearly, "I need to tell you something. I haven't told Ian or Faye yet, so don't worry. It's not anything bad."
"Okay?" Emory replied, her simple response coming out more like a question.
Dee had taken Emory to the coffee shop again, except this time she had bought her own coffee, and tried to buy Dee's too, but that was a lost cause.
They were sitting at a small table in the corner of the coffee shop.
"It's something about us," Dee said. "I don't want it to change anything between us and our friend group.
"What is it Dee?" Emory asked, scared it may be him telling her he liked her.
"I'm really into Ian." Dee laughed.
Dee was no longer serious and the mood at their table lightened. Emory grinned, relieved that it didn't have to do with her. She released her death grip on her other hand.
"That's great!" She smiled.
Hey, Lark. Sorry my last letter was so short. I sort of wasted a stamp on that one.
I'm writing to you because I just figured out what was going on in my life. I'm sorry for telling you I couldn't miss you.
I do miss you.
With love,
Emory Fuller
