six: flashback

"Why are we here?" Scarlett said and looked at me with a confused smile when I parked my car.

"Because its been a while since we hung out and I've missed you" I said and she gave me a tight lipped smile.

Its been a month since I came back from my family holiday in Greece and she's been avoiding me everytime I asked her to go out with me so today I just went to her place and picked her up.

We walked to the beach and I sat down on the shore and patted the space next to me for her to sit down.

She sat down and tied her long brunette hair in a ponytail.

"So Scar, I wanted to talk to you about something" I said and she nodded.

"Since I came back from Greece, you've been avoiding me, did I do something wrong?" I asked and she licked her lips and her sea green eyes looked away from me.

"Is that thing I talked to you about us getting serious bothering you? Look, if you aren't ready for it then we can take it slower an-

"No no Chris....I don't want to take this anywhere..." She said and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Chris....you deserve so much better, I'm not enough for you, I'm not enough for anyone..." She said.

"Scarlett are you kidding me?! That is bullshit, if there is something I don't deserve, its you because honestly you're too fucking beautiful and kind for this world and I don't know how other guys don't notice this but-

"I'm getting married Chris..." She said and I paused, I couldn't react.

"But this isn't because I'm getting married, I've been wanting to tell you this for a while. I'm already wrecking one man's life, I don't want to wreck yours" She said.

"Married?" I said in disbelief and she nodded.

"Yes" She mumbled.

"To whom?!" I asked.

"Justin Bieber, he's a businessman" She said.

"And do you really want to do this Scar? Forget about me here, do you really see a future with whoever that is?!" I said and she looked at me.

"It really a blur right now, but he is a good man, I know we'll find our way" She said, shattering me.

So she believe in some guy she barely knows over me.

Over someone she has known since high school? For God's sake, she even let me be her first kiss, her first time....I was her first everything and she just going to leave me for some other man?

"Scarlett, I think you should think over this again" I said.

"I have Chris, and I like him" She said.

"You are a great person Chris, but like I said, I'm already destroying one man's life and I don't want to destroy yours. I'm the last person you should be thinking about" She said and stood up.

"Scarlett wait..." I said.

"Goodbye Chris" She said and ran away and for some reason, I didn't chase her, I knew she was gone.

That day flipped my life over. There wasn't  a day I spent thinking if Scarlett was really happy and did she missed me like I missed her.

-present day-

I let out a puff of smoke and sighed. And thinking about her everyday had brought me here, into this mess.

I dug out every information about the guy she was getting married to. And I got to know it was all a game played by her father who practically sold his daughter for a good partnership.
