Chapter 8: Bridal style

I felt warm, comfortable.
Everywhere around me seemed to be a twirling darkness.

I heard muffled sounds, voices even. But I could not distinguish who the voices belonged to.

I tried to move.
Immediately the comfortable feeling was gone and a gash of pain shot through my right leg.

I frowned and grunted.

There was a slight change in the tone of the muffled voices. I could understand some of the words.

"She's waking up"

'Waking up'? I thought.

I opened my eyes.
A storm of blurry colors and lights hit me in the face.
I pressed my eyes closed again.

I felt the sensation of someone holding on to my left hand.

Carefully I opened my eyes halfway to see who it was.

Grayson.

No, Ethan.

I blinked rapidly and rubbed my eyes.

No, it was definitely Grayson.

When he saw that I was awake his eyes widened with joy.

"Hey..." He chuckled as quiet as he could. "Hey, good morning babe."
He reached for my face and rested his hand on my jaw, moving his thumb over my cheek.

I look at his worried, smiling face and then I looked over to the right.
Ethan was there his hand resting on my thigh.
I somehow didn't feel his hand...

I stretched my neck to look at my leg.
It was laying on these white sheets that I didn't recognize and was completely encased in a purple cast.
That was probably why I couldn't feel Ethan's hand.

Grayson pulled his hand away.

While he was still looking at me Grayson called out:

"She's awake."

My mom came bursting through the door

"Oh my god, my baby"

My mom sat down in the chair where Ethan had been sitting as the twins made way for her and walked out of the room.

The bang of the door shutting behind them echoed in my head.

My mom hugged me, her arms wrapped tightly around my neck.

"Uhg, mom you're choking me."

She pulled back, "Sorry honey."

I ran my fingers through my hair.

"Uhm, mom, w-what happened exactly?"

My mom immediately grabbed my shoulders, shaking them a little bit

"What?! You don't know-
Oh my god!
Do you remember anything?
Oh no my baby!
We need a doctor over here! My daughter has terrible brain damage!"
