In space and time there are only beginnings,
tangents shooting off in all directions,
universal lines playing connect-the-dots,
blanketing the inner screen of our perception.
We are micro-reflections
of a movement so vast,
a trillion light years pass
in one grand stroke.
At this magnitude
a symphonic gesture takes forever,
single notes ripple and resound
over a lifetime of grub-like toil
on the surface of a sparkling sphere.
There are no editors, here, in space,
no composers either,
just this unfolding movement,
untrammelled,
and, as yet,
uncut.
Pulling meaning, form,
and beauty from chaos,
stretching energy
from gaseous starry masses
into brilliant string-like taffy,
supernovae leave
trails that Klein their way back to the beginning.
Our minds spill open in contemplation.
An attempt to harness a single thought anchors us,
and for a millisecond we fly our stripes:
Human – Intelligent – Victorious.
....................
As infinitesimal lifeforms,
we incandesce – seven billion jellies flashing
a brief ah ha – before extinguishing
ourselves in the void.
We bring our love with us
and add its spark
to the eternal combustion
to begin once
and again.
