A/N: The challenge? Write a teen fiction, without romance, but with a vampire.

"The principal called! What were you thinking skipping school?" Mom yelled throwing the blankets off my bed. I missed the warmth.

Her left eyebrow twitched as it always did when she was mad. "I can explain." I said even though I couldn't.

"Fine. You'll explain on the way to school." She pulled me out of bed and gave me a once over. I swayed barely able to stand.

"You were perfectly fine when you went to Matt's party last night, so don't you dare act sick." She said in a low clipped voice.

"Mom something happened." I slurred.

"How many times have I told you not to drink." She misunderstood. "Well I don't care if you have a hangover, you're going to school. Now. You can just wear those Bambi pajamas. I hope your friends laugh at you."

"No..." I cried. Mom wasn't taking no for an answer. She grabbed my ear and started pulling me out.

"Mom, I can't go out there." I pleaded. I was too weak to stop her from dragging me into the daylight.

Like always she wouldn't listen to me. The last thing I remember was the heat of the sun and how it burned.
