The Train

White hair whips in the wind as the woman waits for her husband's homecoming.   

Her companion compels her to leave, for the train won't come this night as it hasn't for the last thirty years.  

"Peter won big playing poker in Guadalquivir." The elder woman says. 

Then the devil got him.  Her companion thinks.  For God couldn't be that cruel.  

Suddenly, a train pierces the night like a lance.  The elderly woman greets her handsome husband with a heartfelt hug. 

The companion studies the scene in stunned silence as her parents board the train together leaving her mother's body behind.
